Is it only specific cards that you can't read on it? I am assuming you're trying from the internal card reader. If it will read 2 Gigabyte or less cards, and will NOT read cards with more storage space, it's because SDHC, the format that allows more than 2G on a SD card, is a different format, and most older card readers will not work with SDHC.

You can purchase a SDHC reader that works in the USB port from your local electronics store or Office supply store.

There is also an SDXC, which extends further the standard to read cards over 32 Gb. very few readers will read these cards, and actually quite little does. I hope this changes and firmwares can be updated to reflect the new format change.

Card locked

If it is an SD card there is a little slider on the side that needs to be pushed into the open position.
Otherwise while loading it last time the lock button on your computer was pushed.
If you load your SD card into the computer them right click it. Go to properties and you can sometimes unlock it that way.
Also you can drag off all of your information onto the desktop and reformat the SD card and then put your info back onto it later.
Hope this helps
