Go to the manufacturers web site to see if they have a driver for Vista,
but you may also be able to run it in "compatibility mode".
Not all older programs will work under Vista.
Software vendors are working to release Vista-compatible versions everday but in the mean time you can run the program in "Compatibility Mode."To do so:

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Location the programs folder(My computerC:Program filesPhillips) and find the executable.
  3. Right click the executable and click the Properties option.
  4. Select the Compatibility tab.
  5. Select the Run This Program in Compatibility Mode option.
  6. From the drop-down list, choose the operating system you ran before upgrading to Vista or just go with XP if unknown, you can always change it again..
  7. If necessary, select the option to run the program as an administrator.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Start your program!

IVE GOT A DTR DIGITAL TERRRSTRAL RECIEVER BUT NOW LOST ALMOST ALL THE CHANNELS I WAS GETTING BEFORE.I HAVE ONLY GOT 5 OF THE NEW CHANNELS INSTALLED

Thanks for the info. You didn't state the manufacturer but I think you must mean the Philips DTR1500/05.

The official advice when a retune has not turned out as expected is to try again at least twice, but from experience I'd add the advice that you should do so at different times of the day.

There are some boxes which are known to have problems with the retune; yours is not on the official list but the channel numbering details which you've given do confirm that it's primarily a problem with your receiver and not with your aerial system or reception quality.

There is no user fix for this. All you can do is to contact Philips directly, but your box is a 2003 model and no longer supported by the manufacturer. OnDigital/ITV Digital/Freeview technical standards have evolved a great deal since then as one operator replaced another and many earlier chipsets have been found to be incompatible.

Contact Philips by all means, but I think that you may be better off investing the £20 or so needed to buy a newer receiver. If it helps, yours uses a lot more power than the newest models so you will make some energy savings and your box was only designed with around a five year maximum expected lifespan anyway.

Sorry I can't give you a more positive or encouraging answer. See the web address below which will show examples of other models with similar or worse issues to your own.

Digital converter box

Greetings kathy76turne,

In February 2009 you will be unable to receive ANY analog television signals therefore the digital converter box will be a necessity to receive any over the air broadcasts.

I am unable to answer the question about the mini van's electrical capability, however you might find the following link handy to get more information.

Cant reprogram my sat dish

If you haven't already, try running the program in Vista's compatibility mode for XP. This page has instructions on how to do that.

If you've already tried that, or if it doesn't work when you try it, the program may simply be incompatible with Vista; if that's the case, you'll have to wait until the program's author releases a Vista-compatible version.

Hi

Have questions about your upgrade? We've got the answers. What do I need to do to receive my upgrade? Nothing! Just make sure your DIRECTV HD DVR is continuously connected to your land-based phone line and you will receive the upgrade automatically. When will I receive my upgrade? The 6.3 software upgrade will roll out over a period of several weeks. Customers with more than one DIRECTV HD DVR may receive their upgrades at different times for each receiver. We appreciate your patience while we deliver these new and improved features to eligible DIRECTV HD DVR customers nationwide. Are all DIRECTV DVRs receiving this upgrade? No. DIRECTV DVR models SONY SAT-T60, PHILIPS DSR6000R and HUGHES GXCEBOT will not receive the 6.3 software upgrade. Other models received a similar upgrade, 6.2, in the past. I have a DIRECTV R10 DVR with 6.1 software. Will I receive this upgrade? No. The 6.1 software on the DIRECTV R10 DVR already includes the 6.2 features such as folders and faster menu scrolling. Will any of my DVR settings be changed as a result of the upgrade? Yes, some of your settings or preferences will be changed back to the factory default settings as a result of the upgrade. These include: "Favorite Channels," "Channels You Receive," "Spending Limits," "Clear Channel Banner Quickly" and "Dolby Digital" recording and output. To change Channel Banners, Channels You Receive and Favorite Channels preferences: 1. Select "Messages and Setup" 2. Select "Settings" 3. Select "Channels" To change Spending Limits: 1. Select "Messages and Setup" 2. Select "Settings" 3. Select "Parental Control" To change Dolby Digital Settings: 1. Select "Messages and Setup" 2. Select "Settings" 3. Select "Audio" 4. Select "Dolby Digital" and "Digital Output" Will I be charged for this upgrade? No. We're upgrading your DIRECTV HD DVR as part of your normal DIRECTV® DVR with TiVo® service at no additional cost. What happens if I don't have my phone line plugged into my DIRECTV DVR? You will not be able to receive the upgrade if your DIRECTV DVR is not connected to your phone line. To install the upgrade, your receiver must successfully make a call to our servers. How will I know when I have received my upgrade? You'll receive an on-screen message the first time you visit DIRECTV Central after your upgrade is complete. It will also appear in your Messages section. You can also check your System Information screen to find out which software version you currently have. Will the download delete any of my currently saved programs? No. All of your saved programs will still be there for your enjoyment after the installation. Once your upgrade is complete... How do I activate the Grouping (folders) option? 1. Go to your Now Playing List. 2. Press Enter on your remote control. 3. Change groups to ON. SHORTCUT HINT: While viewing your Now Playing List, press number 2 on your remote control and your Now Playing List will change from the GROUPS view to show each individual recording. Press 2 again and it will switch back to the GROUPS option. How do I sort alphabetically instead of by date recorded? 1. Go to your Now Playing List. 2. Press Enter on your remote control. 3. Change sorting option to Alphabetical. SHORTCUT HINT: While viewing your Now Playing List, press number 1 on your remote control and your Now Playing List will change from alphabetical to date sort. Press 1 again and it will switch back to alphabetical sort. Some settings will restore to factory defaults when the new software is download
