Took the catalytic converter off and it ran fine for a while then all of the sudden it started smoking out of the tail pipe. It is worse in the morning when it is cold, but continues to smoke as you are driving. It only has 120,000 miles. Any help would be appreciated.

If you love the car as you say than be prepaired to shell out the bucks for a rebuild or replacement engine, because thats the only fix for your situation. You may not see any blue smoke but believe me its burning it, or you got a leak witch you say you don't. Its going someware and most likely its out the exhaust.

white smoke is water ,suspect head gasket but it could be inlet manifold gasket as well if water heated ,it could also be brake fluid via servo unit ,but diesels have a vacumn pump so if its diesel ignore that one .

chech the ignition timing first.usually nissan vehicles has an ignition timing of 10 degrees before top dead center.after that clean or replace the spark plugs.use only unleaded gasoline.

White smoke indicates water being burned. Also the ticking means your loosing oil. You most likely have a blown head gasket.

After more research, I have found out that the catalytic converter went bad. When it went bad and broke apart inside it caused the fibers and debris to be sucked into the engine. Thats what caused the smoke to start coming out of the exhaust and the oil to spit out of the exhaust. Not happy with my new found knowledge because the motor has to be replaced or rebuilt. Need a new engine for a 2007 Nissan which is crazy.
