Asus p4gb-vm main board problem

I have 10 systems with the above board, each have pentium 4 1.7ghz processor and 256md ddr ram. The problem is out of 10 systems 4 of them are now in dead stage. After checking it is confirmed that the problem is with mainboard. When power on the cooling fan of cpu starts rotating for a while, then stops and then restarts, but there is no display or any beep sounds. memory, cables, smps, and processor are changed and checked. All the 4 boards have the same problem.

Hi shameer123,

The above scenario confirms board failure. This is due to wear and tear which we cannot prevent.

I believe it is time to replace with other P4 478 chipset board available in your country.

Hi,

It supports maximum of 2 GB of DDR RAM

DDR here means DDR 1 and not DDR2 or DDR3

Rate it, if it helps.

I can't recognize what specific RAM this motherboard accepts..

Dear sir,

In reply to your post- Generally now a days we use DDR400 RAM(DDR 1) for this type of motherboard. So DDR 400 RAM is More compatible then other RAM,you can use this RAM for your motherboard to obtain good performance.

good luck

I have the same problem

Dear! If monitor showes power but not showes display its means that monitor requires heat and it very better if you can give sun-rays. I assure your monitor will work if you do that for 4 hours. Check your monitor sepreatly with another system or computer if it works that means your VGA card not supported so you should change your VGA card but first check your monitor.
Thank You

Come back on XP or Vista but XP works better. There is no driver for W7 yet.Motherboards manufacturers will provide drivers for W7 when Microsoft will announce that the system(W7) is ready to be sell....Windows 7 is still beta! If Microsoft still provide "UP DATE" for XP why you want to install other OS?

IS DDR SDRAM IS DDR II RAM OR DDR

No. DDR replaced the SD in RAM so SDRAM and DDR RAM are two completely different things but each ram type has its own frequency hence you get SDRAM 100(mhz) and SDRAM 133(Mhz) just like you get DDR 1 RAM at 266(mhz) and 400(mhz) and DDR 2 RAM at 533(mhz) and 800(mhz). Therefore as you can see how these things differ, but if your mboard takes SDRAM that it can take and frequency of SDRAM but you must ensure that all the frequencies of all your RAM modules in all your slots correspond otherwise you will have problems, meaning that if you decide to use 133mhz RAM then all your RAM modules that you use must be the same. Let me know how you go. thanks

No any display in the monitor, no beep of the RAM while CPU fan is running

Check your power supply. It sounds like you have a bad power supply. Even though the computer powers up, it does not mean that it's good. I have had this problem before, and almost 9 out of 10 times the power supply had gone bad. Just try a different one and see. hope this helps you.

CPu fan turns for 1 second and then stops.

If all was working fine before, then, you have either not connected the cpu power cable, as is sometimes required other than being powered by the processor socket, or your power supply unit is not pentium 4 compatable and is unable to power the processor.
