If the ram is bad, you wouldn't receive video signal (yes, even new ones can be bad), but if there is a beep code it would tell you the problem. I cannot directly answer that question because you did not supply the motherboard model number. You will have to look this up yourself, here is the url for Mercury support http://www.mercury-pc.com/downloads.php
The model number is usually printed on the motherboard, find it and you can download the manual, specs and drivers.

what type of ram did you upgrade with it should have been DDR and keep the same brand/type of ram modules the same check the ram sockets make sure they are clean and the ram is securely seatedThe ram modules should have either of these 2 the same1 GB 184-pin DIMMDDRPC 2700 memory module1 GB 184-pin DIMMDDRPC 3200 memory module
I have checked the Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX Specification It Originally has 2GB Memory and supports upto 4GB RAM max. If you intend to upgrade the RAM, you can buy additional RAM and put them in you system. Here is the HP Guide to Replace RAM and How to Upgrade RAM Guide Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX has two RAM slots for DDR-2 (533 or 667) Memory Modules. First you have to check that the RAM slot is available for additional RAM. I believe that it has two modules of 1GB each in both slots. So, you have to get two modules of RAM 2GB each to upgrade to 4GB (or one 2GB RAM module to upgrade to 3GB). Hence, it is recommended that you get 2GB replacement module for each 1GB module you have on you system from local laptop repair/ service center, which would be cost effective as existing 1GB RAM Modules would be useless for you upon upgrade.
Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Good Luck! Appreciate generously, if the solution could have been of any help! CreativeTECH
get another monitor if you can .and check it that way ..... or maybe check your video..... if its on board video ..... get a card that goes in ..hope this helps
Just spoke with ya in chat... ya left a little too soon :-)
You should be able to upgrade that processor to around 1ghz (1000mhz). That will double your cpu speed.
And shop around online for some PC-133 SDRAM for your model of pc. Get that thing up to at least 512mb of system memory and you will probably be alot happier with it's performance! If all you generally do is email and surf the net, no need to drop the bucks on a new machine if your looking for just a little more speed. Unless your wanting something newer anyway, then go for it. But you should be able to upgrade that one yourself for easily under $100 if you shop the parts online.

And you think the problem might be?
