Most likely the battery has reached the end of its usable life.
You'll need to buy a replacement battery and properly recycle the old battery.
Had you posted the model number of your laptop, I would have provided you with some online examples of stores that sell replacement batteries.
It's highly unlikely that it's the battery that's at fault here as you have already explained what has happened here. By the sounds of what you have done it is the diet coke which has done some damage here.
It has probably seeped through the keyboard and has got onto the components that regulate the charge to the battery.
You would have to completely disassemble the laptop and clean all of the sticky coke from all the components inside the laptop. It won't work properly until you have cleaned the motherboard and all other circuit boards that connect to it. Once it's cleaned the battery may start to charge properly again.
No, this is an indication of either of this two things: 1. Either your baatery is bad and needs replacement, or 2. The charging point of your laptop is faulty. I would suggest that you test your laptop with a good, working battery first, if it works with it, then change your battery, but if it doesnt, get a technician to fix the charging point of your laptop for you. Hope this helps. Goodluck.
That usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced. Your responses are intended to improve the level of service provided. Please show your appreciation by rating your experience. Thank You.
