Question about PC Desktops

Startup i just bought this hp pavilion tx 2000 5 weeks ago and it won,t start up the start up bar that runs accross is non going as normal it flickers . Then when thats done my whole screen goes black for 3-4mins then the message checking disc comes up . Then when thats finished the system locks up for a few mins . AS i say the laptop is only 5 weeks old, can you please help . It was bought in harvey normans in drogheda co louth Ireland

Dear sir.
"checking disc comes up" this message is hard disk message and it's showing becoust missplase of harddisk thru yr laptop scoket if u know bout laptops u need to plug off then reconnect yr laptop harddisk otherwise contact system wonder near u.. it's help u.

If you have cleaned out the dust with compressed air, then I suggest you look at the processor cooling. Is the fan running up to speed? Is the heat sink tightly in place on the processor? Feel the fins of the processor heat sink when you power it up and if they get hot your processor is most likely over heating and shutting down. If all is well at the processor, check the power supply fan to see if it is running and the only other suggestion is to try another power supply. Dust is your worst enemy in a computer.

On startup my S3220N PC setup menu appears and won't leave until I go into the boot menu and select the hard drive-this adds 5 minutes to the startup


ok this you need to replace the cmos battery. is a coin cell of 5v its the most commmon and it keep a record of boot config..if something goes wrong with it you need to set up every start up.....

If no PC start at all, ensure ALL power leads are securely plugged in to pC and wall socket. If still no go, try another power supply cable. If still no go then likely to be power supply.

Computer gives 1 loud continuous beep on startup


unplug your memory and reseat it... that should fix the issue

System reboot


1 Turn off the PC. If necessary, press and hold the On button until the PC turns off.
2 Disconnect all peripheral devices from the PC except the monitor, the keyboard,
and the mouse.
3 Press the On button to turn the PC on.
4 During the startup, do the following to enter the System Recovery program:
When the blue screen with the HP Invent logo appears, press the F10 key on
the keyboard. (You have only a few seconds to press the F10 key before the
normal startup process continues.)
5 The PC starts the recovery; wait for the onscreen instructions to display, and
then follow those instructions.Please select non destructive recovery which will make all your data safe.
6 Complete the PC startup, and finish the registration process. Then reconnect
all peripheral devices.

Slow initial Start up ????


Your computer is trying to load a lot of programs on startup. Click Start --> Run, type msconfig. A window will appear, and on the Startup tab uncheck all startup programs and reboot. Then go back to msconfig and check the programs that you need.

Monitor goes to sleep and computer will not boot


If your monitor goes to sleep, how do you know it got to window xp screen ?

Sound like your stuck in a loop (bad boot sector). You might have to reinstall windows again.
