All Verizon phones default lock code is the last 4 digits of the cell number. If that doesn't work, then your friend must have changed it....only he knows, or if he's forgotten it, then you'll have to take to a Verizon store to unlock it.
Lock code and security code are generally two different things. If it is asking for a 4 digit lock code the default on Verizon is the last 4 digits of the cell phone number. If it is the security code try 6 zeros.
I find it hilarious that a Wiz ("LG expert") and a Guru had no idea that one can simply find the lock code by going through this simple process: Settings & Tools menu -- option 9 Phone Info -- My Number. Write down the last 4 digits of the phone number -- that's your reset code. Now go back to Settings & Tools, Option 6 Phone Settings, Option 6 Security and enter those last 4 digits. Simple. as. that.
LG VX 8300 Reset Lock Code To DefaultIf you have your phone serviced with Verizon this should work. Dial *228 then push send. You will get 3 options to choose from. 1. To program your phone. 2. To update your roaming capabilities. Can't remember 3rd option. If you choose 1st option, program your phone you will be told to hold while your phone is being programmed. When finished your phone should turn off then on again itself. Your lock code is then set to default. (last 4 digits of phone #)
