hi,
did you took off the battery during the time you didn't use the cam, or was it mounted on it ?
if it was mounted on it, it is most certainly dammaged and doesn't keep enought charge. did you try with the charging cable plugged?

My camcorder doesnt charge up properly, ive purchased a new batteery and charges a bit but doesnt charge to full, light keeps flashing to say somethings wrong. I put it on the pc and it seems to charge.

Is the charging of the battery part of the camera or is it a separate charger? Meaning you remove the battery from the camera and install it into the charger to charge. Of course, if the charge is not full when both batteries have been on the charger, then the charger is at fault. Also, considering that you have also put a new battery on the same charger and the problem is still the same, then the charger is (again) at fault. You can try and send the charger to the retailer for inspection or, better still, take the whole camera and get it checked. Bad batteries or charger can cause more trouble to both the batteries or the camera.

Camera doesnt remain on

Based on the age of the camera, it's most likely due to the battery just losing its ability to hold a charge. After several years, the battery will just cease to accept a good charge, no matter how long you leave it charging. I'd suggest a replacement battery from one of the "aftermarket" battery makers (only because they are about half the price of the original Olympus battery).

Battery don't charge

faulty battery. could be a bad charger as well. take it to your local electronics store and see if they have an open charger from an open box item to test your battery on. if it charges then your charger has a problem. if it doesnt charge then the battery has gone bad. just like a car battery or cellphone or laptop battery, the cells get exhausted after certain use and just die off. either that or there is chemical or physical damage on the internals of the battery which causes it not to charge anymore.
