Question about Video Game Consoles

360 acting strange

My Xbox360 has been on some sort of fit. For a few days it was overheating at random intervals, 10minutes to a few hours, eventually that stopped.
The very next day the DVD drive was loading oddly and taking heft pauses. A game that usually loaded up the next area in 10-20 seconds took upwards of 2 minutes pauses during battles per action went from the occasional 1-5 seconds to each action taking nearly half a minute. While this was happening the DVD drive was revving it's speed up and down in a rapid pulsating motion or cutting off for a moment here and there.

Now it's acting fine, no problems. Are there "gremlins" in my console is this a sing that it's dieing and how can I prevent this from happening?

Also would Microsoft repair these problems or would my cries for help on my second console fall upon deaf ears?

It's days later and the console is still up and running, well when it wants too. Am I able to call Microsoft and get it repaired as is or will they brush me off?

Looks like your DVD drive has overheated the sensors at the back, to fix it you need to stop the heat. You can do this yourself with a good guide or send it in to be repaired.

My xbox 360 not able to recognize my hard drive.

Well here are few solutions:
1. You might have a modded(Flashed) console, which microsofts new fix destroys your profile/HDD/Console, so everything is gone to waste.
2. Replace your HDD, there might be a problem with it
3. Just buy a small Memory instead of a whole HDD to replace.
4. Buy a new 360.

Xbox 360 Freezing during netflix and dvd playback

If you are using a HDMI connection, often the connection will be lost between your xbox and your tv. In my case I simply change to another channel or the other HDMI channel and then back and the secure HDMI connection will be restored.

Xbox 360 keeps blacking the screen out for about 1 to 2 seconds at seemingly random intervals. The game continues progression as normal underneath but I have experienced some lag issues, specifically with...

Hi, your X-BOX is overheating. this will continue to progress. Read the following details below to combat this issue before it ruins the gpu.

Alternativly Overheating can be cause by the console locking up or "freezing" after a set amount of time. Lockups that occur at a specific point in a game are generally problems with the game itself and not caused by overheating.

THINGS TO TRY
  1. Let the Xbox 360 console cool.
Note You may have to wait several hours for the console to cool enough. Do not turn on the console when the console is hot.
  2. Verify that the console has sufficient ventilation and that the fan is operating. For more information about ventilation, see the "More Information" section.
PREVENTION SUGGESTIONS
To try to prevent this problem, use the following precautions:
  • Do not block any ventilation openings on the Xbox 360 console.
  • Do not put the Xbox 360 console on a bed, on a sofa, or on any other soft surface that may block ventilation openings.
  • Do not put the Xbox 360 console in a confined space, such as a bookcase, a rack, or a stereo cabinet, unless the space is well-ventilated.
  • Do not put the Xbox 360 console near any heat source, such as a radiator, a heat register, a stove, or an amplifier.
DO NOT EVER PUT YOUR CONSOLE IN THE FREEZER OR OUT IN COLD WEATHER
Some people think that doing this might help "fix" an overheating console, in fact doing so could cause even bigger problems. Electronic devices like your console are made to function at and around room temperature, extreme cold temperatures can often cause just as many problems as extreme warm temperatures (such as overheating). Also if the console is located in a dramatically cold area while running, the difference in temperature between the hot console and cold air can create condensation which in turn will short out your console making the situation far worse. Condensation will happen more quickly if your console is overheating due to the greater difference in temperature. In short... DON'T DO IT.

A more aggressive Solution to overheating is to improve the cooling system of the console. The best solution is to replace the thermal compound. If you attempt this you do so at your own risk. If you're console is still under warranty it is recommended that you contact MS for a replacement before attempting to fix it yourself.

Rings of death

the "3 rings of death" or the so called "3 red lights" is actually caused by GPU overheating and mainboard flexing. When you need to do is open your xbox360 (warning, this will void your warranty) add more cooling fan inside your xbox360, you'd want to use 80mm fans coz they fit perfectly. you can fit up to two 80mm fans inside your xbox360.

Also, if you notice that your xbox360's mainboard is warped you need to fix this by disconnecting all the connections from the board. then place the board on a flat surface. then use a hair drier to heat the board and flat it out. its kinda complicated. hehe, at least you now have an idea on whats causing the 3 red lights...

Xbox overheating

Ok, if you are a patient person looking for a free soultion, take duct tape, or another non flammible object and block the heating vents. Then let the xbox 360 run for a few hours. You should get the rings of death and microsoft will fix it for free.

Faulty usb port?

From your description it does sound like your Xbox 360 USB port is shot or you have just racked up the hours on three different guitar hero guitars. Not to doubt your skills or the dedication any of us have to the game I am just leaning towards it being the USB port. Here is the link to the Microsoft run down of how to eliminate the possible problems. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907585

If you were still under warranty this would be the check list they would have you go through prior to taking the console back. I am assuming that since you have gone through three different guitars you were switching out the USB connector to see if you had a faulty connection on the cord connecting your guitar to your actual box. If you haven't checked this you could potentially solve the problem with $5 and a trip to best buy.

If you have already checked this I would check out this site that offers the manual on how to repair your Xbox. They have step by steps on how to solve just about any Xbox 360 and Playstation problems. Here is the link to the overall tutorial:

In particular here is a link of fitting a standard USB port into your machine in case you feel like Frankensteining it:
