Question about HP Photosmart 2610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

HP 2610 is saying to change black ink cartridge

HP is saying to change black ink cartridge and I did with a brand new one and it still repeats this. I don't know what else to do.
Help!

My HP 2610 was having the same problem. Turns out that I was using refurbished ink cartridges. I've done it before and it was fine. However, my printer is complaining now unless I use a genuine HP cartridge. You can get them pretty cheap at WalMart.

Make sure you have removed the tape from the printhead on the cartridge. If you have sone this, then you can try turning the printer off and on a couple of times and see if this helps. You may need to press the OK button

You need to take it a couple steps further after your test print. Sounds like your print heads need cleaning or your cartridge may need aligning. Hp 2610 will not print black even with new cartridge. HELP


Try cleaning the gold contacts on cart first, with distilled water. Let dry and try again.
If not, try this one
1.Try placing sheet of black text on copy board, and run many copies black only. I ran 25x12 times still no black. Run head clean after about each 50 sheets. Persevered and finally BLACK ink OK

I cannot get my new black print cartridge to align properly. I am using the HP Photosmart 2610 all-in-one device.


I bought a new ink cartridge which will print well. But the alignment still does not work for some reason. The printer screen says to "check the device instructions" whatever that means. i am willing to continue to use the printer as is unless you have a simple solution. Thanks Gerald Lord

Black printing morphs into red after black ink cartridge installation


Your printer creates it's black by using ALL the colours together. This effectively gives a very dark purple rather than black.

It sounds like you have a colour cart that is drying up or may be struggling to get enough air into the cartridge. Make sure you have removed any tape over the vent holes if you are using compatible inks. If not then try running a couple cleaning cycles via the button panel/driver.

If you alter the settings in the driver by going into START - PRINTERS AND FAXES and then right click on your 2610 and select PROPERTIES - the changes you make in here will be set as the default settings for each print job.

New black print cartridge not working


I only use refill HP inks. When the cartridge prints gray instead of sharp black it means the ink well is clogged. Yes, that can happen on a new cartridge. Sometimes it happens when they put too much ink in the cartridge, or even heat can make it not work. Also streaking black lines is the problem of the ink not coming out properly. Easiest thing to do is go to a refill station like Cartridge World and have them test it or clean it out. You can also make sure the printer, not the cartridge is clean. Ink builds up an pools. Get some Q-Tips and clean up all that spilled ink. Sometimes in the software it says you can clean the print head, do that too.
