Question about Printers & Copiers
First, my problem was that I had to download a service pack so I did that and now its saying that the installation cannot be complete because of a printer spool. What is that and how do I fix the problem!!! I just want the printer to do what its supposed to do...
Go into Control Panel (classic view), Administrative Tools, Services and find the Print Spooler service. Right-click it and choose Stop. Wait for the service to stop, then right-click and Start. (You can just choose Restart but if it is hung, you may have better results stopping the service first and then starting it.)
If you're still having issues installing, try the following:
After a restart, let everything load and then press ctrl-alt-del and go into Task Manager. Stop all non-essential processes (things that run in the background, like msn messenger, yahoo messenger, Google Update, iTunes service, etc - these are just examples). One of these background programs may be interfering with the install as well.
And then try installing again.
At this point, if you're still having issues with the spooler (or even if you're not :) ) you should run a full virus scan, as occasionally, spooler problems are a symptom of an infection.
