Question about DVD/Blu-ray Drives

Sound on DVDs

My friend just called to say that the dialogue isn't coming through on any of the DVDs she's playing on her new Tevion player that she bought at ALDI yesterday. Odd thing is, all the background music and chatter and noise is coming through fine, just nothing from the main characters. Any ideas/suggestions most welcome.

It sounds like she has the player set to output 5.1 surround sound, but only has left and right channel speakers hooked up. Either change the dvd player to only send two channels or hook up a center channel speaker.

I am not a tech but after searching online forever, I found out why I didn't have dialogue, but I had background sound. Something was up with my center speaker. Apparently if your center speaker isn't working you will only hear background sound. I just unplugged the wires from the back of the center speaker and reconnected them. It works like new now!!! I read that if that doesn't work, you may need to replace your speakers.

Dell n5010 dvd drive does not recognise dvd but will play cd's

Does this happen on all DVDs and CDs or only on some DVDs?
If this is happens on all DVDs then this drive is faulty and needs to be replaced.
If it only occurs on some DVDs then check the region code on the DVD player and the region code on the DVD, the region codes must match.
To play DVDs from any region the player needs to be a region free player or you need to install a region free program on your notebook/computer.
For details on making your DVD player region free, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

No sound on DVD playback but CDs play fine

Hi
It seems like you dont have the right Codecs. You can either download and install some codec pack like i.e. "K-lite codec pack" or use VLC player to play your DVDs.

Tevion DVD player Model TDR1602HD (Aldi)

Turn the player OFF at the mains, leave it off for a few minutes. Power it up again. If the problem is still there, it's time for a service! The TEVION logo should display at turnon when no disc is in the unit. If that comes up, then try a disc.
This is assuming you have everything connected correctly. And the player should be the ONLY device connected to any particular AV input.
You might also try it on another TV.. maybe the TV is the problem?

Windows media player

Windows XP does not come with the proper software to play DVDs. All major brands of pcs come with a piece of software called a DVD decoder. Once the DVD decoder is installed windows media player can play DVDs again. This software will be on your application recovery disks from your manufacturer. If you do not have these disks you can purchase them from the company who built your PC or you can purchase a DVD decoder software such as the ones found here. If you don't want to purchase one you can try a different program such as the VLC Media player to play your DVDs. VLC is a free download.
