Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router
Make sure you are using a good ethernet cable to start with. Next, when you connect your computer to the router (when the computer is on) do you see an indicator light underneath one of the port numbers on the front of the router light up? (1 ,2, 3, or 4?) - Is there a connection light on your computer where the other end of the cable is plugged in? If yes to these questions then... (assuming you're using windows) click 'start', 'run', then type 'cmd' and then hit enter (this brings up the command line (black dos screen) type 'netstat -rn' here, hit enter, and make sure your computers network interface has an IP of something like 192.168.x.x, or 10.x.x.x.. If it has anything else, then DHCP may not be working and your computer may not be getting an IP address from the router.
