While i am driving my 2001 e-350 goes into neutral what is wrong

Though it will not harm your transmission to shift into Neutral while your vehicle is in motion, the additional wear on your brakes by leaving the transmission in Drive will be negligible over the life of the brake pads. It is that minor. NEVER, EVER go into neutral while slowing down to a stop, for 3 reasons: 1.

Trans goes into neutral

all you can do @ this time is to drop the pan, drain the fluid, clean the pan, magnet, etc., install new gasket & filter, refill w/ the correct trans fluid, donot overfill !!!!!!!!!!!!! check for loose shift rods, adjust as required, check the lines for leaks, maybe replace neutral safety switch, see if it improved or fixed your issue ! other than that, you may need a rebuild ?????? torque converter & or pump could be ready to go ???? inside trans . have a trans shop check it out, at least thats free !good luck

1997 chevy lumina 3.1 eng trans works ok for about 5 miles then trans acts as if it goes into netural. restart engine and trans works again for about 5 miles. what could cause this?

Hi,
Do you have a Check Engine Light on? If so, you must take it to a shop or GM dealer to diagnose, unless you have an OBD2 scanner. Some auto parts stores will check codes for free.

Check your fluid level - hopefully, it's just low, but if it smells burnt when you check it - How To in the Owner's Manual - after just having it changed, then your transmission may be going.

It could be a sensor in the transmission, but the fact that it goes into 'neutral' is a bad sign.

Transmission fluid goes low when driving for awhile then goes back to normal when parked for awhile

The transmission fluid level is to be checked with the ENGINE RUNNING, ond trans in park or neutral. there is fluid in the torque converter that will raise the fluid level when the engine is off..this is normal. So, I suspect that you may be low on fluid. and the indication after being parked for a while is not valid. Engine MUST be running, and ideally the trans fluid warmed up, but not critical.
