It sounds like the game disk is scratched or dirty. Gently rinse the disk at a sink with a slow pressure of water, then take a dry, clean fabric and GENTLY dry it by patting it. I've used this methods to clean disks that wouldn't even start up to get it running just fine. Make sure it's all the way dry
there is what some people call an "eye" inside (it a sensor) inside that reads the disks SOMETIME this can get dirty and sometimes it can also break completely.... I would first start by getting a cleaning disk you can find them at most gaming stores you simply pop it in and it does all the work... they are also cheap so always the best place to start... If that does not work then you will need to have the sensor fixed...... SOMETIMES and this is NOT a fix but a sometimes useful temp fix you can hold the system upside down and then put the disc in and continue holding it that way until it loads that sometimes works`
The game could be scratched and there are numerous resources for how to fix the disk. You can try the one below.
You can also pay someone to fix it.
If it is only that disk that won't read, the problem is likely a scratch or some debris on the surface. If all your disks won't read, then you may need to have the Wii repaired as it could be a problem with the laser reader.
turn on your wii with mario party 8 disk in thje wii click the home button click wii remote setting then click reconnet fallow what the screen tells you with all four players then start mario party 8 if this dose not work then have all the players open the back of there wii remotes open the little slot below the disk place there will be a red button matching the one on the back of the wii remote have each player one at a time move up to the wii click the red button on there wii remote and the red button on the wii at the same time after all the players do this then start mp8. if this dose not work your wii is messed up. I had the same problem and called Nintendo support. They had us unplug the wii console for 30 seconds, plug it back in and start the system back up. BEFORE pressing the A button on the health and safety screen, we needed to take the battery cover off of one remote, press the red sync button, then quickly press the sync button on the front of the wii console (in the front - you have to open the flap). Once the single blue light was on at the bottom of the remote, do the same with the other remote (press the sync button on it and then on the wii console). Then the second blue light should be lit on the second remote. Hope that helps!
