Question about Maytag Washing Machines

Fills but won't start, just buzzes

This is the second time in a week that this has occured. The last time we let it just set for about two hours and it finally started working. This time it has been longer and it still won't go. Tried unplugging and moving the tub by hand. The load in the machine is tiny but the first time this happened it was very large. Any ideas what could be wrong. The timer on the machine is only a few months old. It also has new belts and water pump. Could there be an off balance switch some where that needs replacing? HELP! Thank you---Joe

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, the buzzeer could either indicate a completed cycle or a fault. it could be that a leak or overflow has been detected and flooding is possible. This would refer to the drain area below the tub of the dishwasher. In most occasions, cleaning the filter, strainer, mesh, grid, sump, impeller, pump and hose should address the buzzer concern. There are however instances where the buzzer is persistently sounding off even if the aforementioned areas/components have been cleaned and dried. One method of addressing/correcting this is to force dry the bottom/under the tub with the use of a can of compressed air, an air compressor, a reversible vacuum cleaner, hair dryer or even a ventilator/electric fan. There have been reports of successful tricks like laying the dishwasher on its side. Thereafter pressing on the STOP, PAUSE or CANCEL for more than 5 seconds should clear the error or unplugging the unit for an extended period of time.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy New Year.

Since you have replaced almost ALL of the things that could go wrong---Have you Checked the Start Button for Power Going to it? Could be a Faulty Start Button.

My model GLET1041AS2 Frigidaire Laundry Center fills/agitates, but does not pump or spin. The timer would make a slight buzzing/timer sound when it hits the spin cycle, but nothing else.

The circuit board has a Cycle generator and sequencer that accepts commands when you manually do a setting. When the sequence enters the spin phase a block occurs and discontinues further action. It is not the timer, but the command center on the circuit board. Because the board has many functions, it is like a set of Christmas Tree lights in series, and when one bulb fails, so goes the set. You will no doubt need a new command board for that model.

Whirlpool Sm8525079 Rev fills up with water, but won't agitate.

Your lid switch has a fault, Sometimes the switch can bend which means that it won't always operate.

When starting a new cycle no water fills in. It just makes a buzzing sound

An inlet valve can buzz normally...However, if water is not flowing it probably means that the inlet valve is faulty..Make sure that the filters on the inlet valve are not blocked..If they are clear it's probably a faulty valve... Good Luck....Nomess

Tub fills, agitator does not start, buzzing sound only - which may last for several minutes before starting to operate. Clothes may wash but machine stops before cycle finishes. Last time machine was used...

The motor for the machine is probably burned out with the power off you can check the motor winding with a meter ohm the wire out to the motor if no resistance bad motor.

My Kenmore moel #11027082602 ran while we were

Yes it is very possible. If it fills with water and starts the cycle and the water keeps running in then your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is sticking. It needs replacing.

Fills with waters starts making a buzzing sound

Check to see if there is something(sock) in the pump. If not, try spin washer with pump hanging down, but not with hoses off.

My Washing Machine fills and drains at the same time, what can i do? I have just about the same problem. We had put in a new drain line for my washer. This new line has been on for over a month W/O any...

Yes, it is a siphon problem.
Check the hose where it goes through the wall. It may be pinched and cutting off air.
If air cannot enter the hose it will siphon. If the hose is too low it will siphon.

Washing machine makes buzzing noise

Check the water pump for an obstruction in the chamber area, your pump may be sticking and that will cause the buzzing sound. The water pump runs during the fill portion of the cycle on several of the selected wash cycles to recirculate the water.
