I am using Power surge protector and the model # is K8M8MSR2.
It boots into the operating system.
How long does a battery lasts before it needs a change?

Also, please provide the model # of your Jetway mobo if possible.

When you press F1 does it boot into the operating system?

It sounds like your cmos got reset, or is resetting with each boot for some reason.  You may have to reconfigure your BIOS.

You may need a new battery.

Also, what do you mean by "regulator"?  Power surge protector, power strip, or power supply?

You most certainly need a new battery by the sound of it.  No, changing the battery with your hands will not affect the motherboard or cpu, but try not to touch too many parts of the motherboard while changing it, as a static shock can damage your pc components.  Before removing the battery, touch something metal (other than the pc), to discharge any static electricity you may have picked up.  Once you have the battery removed, take it to Radio Shack or the like and get a replacement.  After replacing the battery you should only be greated with cmos error screen once more, and then everything should be fine.

It is possible that your CMOS battery is low or dead.It retains the memory power to the CMOS when you turn off your computer. Change it and see if you problem goes away. It's a round silver disk. They are sometimes called coin batteries because they look like a coin. They come out easy and your local Radio Shack or Batteries Plus will have them.

Nope won't hurt a thing. Just touch the case do discharge the static electricity in your body. Then change it.

Hi, I have recently built my own computer with the ASUS M4A88TM motherboard and and AMD Athlon II X3 CPU and every time I load it up I get a message saying 'Bad BIOS checksum'. So I put in the CD...

This is common with some ASUS motherboards. Windows is finding bios settings it didn't expect
Try substituting the PSU first if you have a spare with a reasonable wattage, this was oddly a common problem that was cured by a new PSU suggest 550 watts
Then remove the CMOS battery, leave for a minute and replace it, try booting to factory defaults.
If no joy, disconnect all drives and try rebooting, see if this is a hardware error
Assume you checked the ram you are using is compatible with the mobo? Visit Asus site to check

In the bios, check the voltage from the rails
12 volt
5 volt
3.3 volt

if any are down below 10% of the above, looking like the PSu

Usually when I see this problem it is because the cmos battery is bad. Replace the cmos battery and see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't, then you really do have a problem. :)

Cmos reloaded changed my cpu from a amd 2800+ to a 2200

When rebooting, go into BIOS and select the feature for Clocking. Most motherboards will go to a default setting and underclock your processor. In Clocking, you should see your processor identified as 2200 with an option to change it to 2800. Best of luck and post back if you have any more questions.

I had lost my driver CD. What can I do now?

You don't need a driver for your processor, the utilities for AMD processors can be found on the AMD website. You probablly lost the motherboard drivers, for that you need to go to the motherboard manufacturers website an download the drivers for the model you have. It should work with the windows default drivers
