Question about AMD Athlon64 2800+, 1.8 GHz Athlon 64 (amdada2800axbox) Processor
I am using an AMD 2800+ processor and Jetway motherboard. My problem recently is when I turn on my regulator my PC boots automatically and stops with a CMOS error- defaults loaded on the screen and it resume from booting when i press F1. Can anybody helped fix my PC?
You most certainly need a new battery by the sound of it. No, changing the battery with your hands will not affect the motherboard or cpu, but try not to touch too many parts of the motherboard while changing it, as a static shock can damage your pc components. Before removing the battery, touch something metal (other than the pc), to discharge any static electricity you may have picked up. Once you have the battery removed, take it to Radio Shack or the like and get a replacement. After replacing the battery you should only be greated with cmos error screen once more, and then everything should be fine.

It is possible that your CMOS battery is low or dead.It retains the memory power to the CMOS when you turn off your computer. Change it and see if you problem goes away. It's a round silver disk. They are sometimes called coin batteries because they look like a coin. They come out easy and your local Radio Shack or Batteries Plus will have them.
