Question about Zenith ZTG Nema-3R, 400 Amps Three Phase, Automatic Transfer Switch (ZN3NEMA3R400) UPS System

Zenith mx 100 hangs up on retransfer,stays in neutral position

The switch starts the genset,it transfers ok but when utility returns the switch gets stusk in neutral,ive cleaned the relays in the rt box,ive cleaned and even replaced the micro switches but problem still happens once and a while-not everytime.

Gen runs when switch in auto even though power avail. Tried resetting ATS - waited 30 min. No luck. Only way to turn off is to move switch to stop/reset. Any ideas on what is broken?


have an electrician check the relay that is activated when the utility power fails
that is what starts the genset when it is in auto
it should also stop the get set when utility power comes back on

1998 blazer 4x4 cannot get it into 4 wheel high when i pus the button th4x4 and low range lights both blink and it goes back to 2 wheel high


Transfer Case Shift Control Switch Indicator Flashes and Returns to Original Mode.
Circuit Description
This symptom usually occurs when a shift into or out of 4LOW will not occur. When the transfer case control module (TCCM) receives a request to shift into or out of 4LOW, the TCCM must see the following parameters before the shift routine can start:

The vehicle speed must be below 3 MPH.


?€¢
The transmission must be in neutral.

If the TCCM does not see these conditions the shift control switch indicator lamp will flash for approximately 5 seconds and then return to the original gear.
Test Description
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. This step tests the operation of the transfer case shift control switch to help determine if the system is operating properly.

  2. This step determines if the vehicle speed sensor reading is correct.

  3. This step determines if the park switch reading is correct.

check to engagement wire at the starter, make sure that power is only present when key is in the start position.if this is the case, then your sarter bendix is hanging up on the flywheel, this is caused by either inproper shiming where the starter is bolted to the block, or having the wrong bendix on the starter, there or several different bendix s general motors uses, also if the return spring in the solonoid is broken or not strong enough the starter could hang up. if the problem is power continuing to feed the solonoid with the key in the run position you could have a bad or out of adjustment ignition switch, since the power feeds the solonoid directly from the ignition switch, other than the neutral switch on the colomn

The generator doesn't turn off after transfering power back to the utility


The transfer switch is responsible for starting / stopping the generator. Check your auto - start circuit. It is 2 wires that go between the genset and ATS. They are generally normally open. When the genset is to shut down this circuit needs to change state.

HOW TO SHIFT TO 4 WHEEL DRIVE


Hi - Here is instruction how to do.

From N to 4H

Stop the vehicle completely, place the

transmission in "N" (Neutral) and depress

the brake pedal and the clutch pedal fully

(if equipped), then push in and turn the

switch to shift into "4H".

From 4H to 4H LOCK

You can operate the transfer switch either

when the vehicle is stopped or while the

vehicle is moving.

Position the front wheels straight ahead

and turn the switch to shift into "4H LOCK".

If the vehicle is moving, we recommend

that the speed be less than 100 km/h (60

mph) during this operation.

NOTE:

• When shifting between the transfer

switch position and the transfer gear

position is unmatched, all 4WD indicators

will blink and the buzzer will sound.

• If it is difficult to shift between "4H" and

"4H LOCK" while the vehicle is moving,

try accelerating and decelerating your

vehicle several times after turning the

transfer switch. Be sure to wait until traffic

conditions allow you to accelerate and

decelerate safety before using this procedure.

From 4H LOCK to 4L LOCK

Stop the vehicle completely, place the

transmission in "N" (Neutral) and depress

the brake pedal and the clutch pedal fully

(if equipped), then push in and turn the

switch to shift into "4L LOCK".

From 4L LOCK to 4H LOCK

Stop the vehicle completely, place the

transmission in "N" (Neutral) and depress

the brake pedal and the clutch pedal fully

(if equipped), then push in and turn the

switch to shift into "4H LOCK".

From 4H LOCK to 4H

You can operate the transfer switch either

when the vehicle is stopped or while the

CAUTION

• Be sure to stop the vehicle completely

before operating the transfer

switch to shift between "N" and

"4H", or between "4H LOCK" and

"4L LOCK".

• Do not shift between "4H" and "4H

LOCK" unless the front wheels are

in the straight-ahead position and

we recommend that the vehicle

speed be less than 100 km/h (60

mph).

Do not operate the transfer switch

while tires are racing.

• Do not operate your vehicle in "4H

LOCK" or "4L LOCK" on dry, hard

surfaces.

except when shifting between "4H"

If you operate the vehicle while a

4WD mode indicator is blinking, a

buzzer will sound and the transfer

In this case, use the following procedure.

1) Depress the clutch pedal fully (if

equipped) or shift the automatic

transmission gearshift lever to the

"N" position.

2) Turn the transfer switch to the

position previously selected.

I have i a kipor 11 kw genset. My home voltage is a 220v phase and neutral. When i start the genset, it trips the RCD, Solution ?


first start gen with no connections. when it trips then already fault is in gen wires when its ok, try with dril, hairdryer or whatever. when ok try to connect to your home installation, make sure power of electricity company is complete off.

Generator Transfer Problem


There isn't much you can do with servicing the generator set or transfer switch unless you've got lots of experience in diagnoising semi-conductors and electronic components.

Depending on the age of the system, it would be benificial to have a qualified service tech take a look at it.

As an electrician, I've installed several back up generator sets in homes for customers and have had a few of these automatic transfer switches with intermittent operation issues. Sometimes it's the switch and other times it's the Generator that is causing the problems.

6.5 RV Onan generaotr wont kick in when loaded. checked automatic transfer switch and excited it manually, worked one time but never again,


1. Does the generator stay running when you start it the first time?

2. What color is the housing on this generator? Try to get the model number and serial number.

If the genset is shutting down on the first try, then your probably not creating voltage. However, if this is an older unit then the genset may stay running although no voltage is created. Place a volt meter on the genset to check for output voltage.
