GE spacemaker dryer won't start

My GE spacemaker dryer won't start. I don't think it is the belt because it does not have a burning smell.

Mine will start for 1 second and then stop. The lights then start to flash and it turns off.  Any recommendations?

Have you tried keepin the dryer door open, depressing the safety switch which enables the dryer to work when it is closed, and then turn on the dryer to see if it turns at all? Sometimes its the smallest things that cause these problems. That switch that gets pressed when the door closes, sometimes malfunctions. Sometimes the door of the dryer gets out of whack and doesnt really make contact with the switch enough to trigger the flow of electricity.

"GE Quality Product Spacemaker Laundry"

you could have a broken belt or a frozen pump pulley. the leak has to be addressed to see where it's coming from. it could be from the pump hoses/connections. it could be the main tub seal that's leaking. if you're not handy with tools and test equipment, i suggest you call someone to have a look at it. these are problems that wont be resolved by pushing a button.
and thankyou for using this site. i hope you will continue to use this site.
if you have any further quesions or need further advice, repost another question. be sure to include the model number as well. you gave a good explanation, and that helps. anything you can think of can be of assistance

Burned rubber smell after replacing motor coupler, otherwise runs

The most common cause for the coupler failing is a bad gearcase. The machine should go through a neutral drain before the spin if it doesn't drain the water first it over works the motor trying to spin a full tub. No belt on this one, odor could be from the motor or the coupler starting to shred again.

My ge stackable smells like it is burning. How do I fix this?

Well, you do not mention which machine causes the smell. My concern is fire hazzard, be sure to check the dryer hose system, and DO NOT USE plactic vent hose, major fire hazzard, they make the same thing in metal and it works better....

Washer stopped spin cycle smell like burning rubber

hello if the belt is broken quite easy to put back on .take the back off you should see the belt if it has snaped or just come off .at the bottom of the washer you should see the motor at the back of the motor you should see 2 nuts this holds the motor on get a felt tip pen and mark the 2 nuts where they are fixed so you know where to tighten back on . get spanner and loosen the 2 nuts the motor should drop down put the belt back on and tighten up good luck
