B&O Beomaster 8000 wont power up.

I have a Beomaster 8000 that won't turn on anymore? The stand-by light illuminates. Occaisionally it with spring to life of its own accord, stay on for about 10 seconds then go to stand-by again. I have checked all fuses, I am getting 5V to IC3 + 4. Earths check out OK.

    It appears to have an earth fault on the main IC. I will let you know the outcome

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls be informed that I am not familiar with the model. But with your indulgence, a couple of ideas on similar concerns you may want to consider/explore:

  • the illuminated standby light and the +5 VDC correlates;
  • "Occaisionally it with spring to life of its own accord" - do you mean simply power ON, or work as in sound is produced normally;
  • "stay on for about 10 seconds then go to stand-by" - indicates auto protect mode;
  • it would appear intermittent, then possibilities are leaky power supply capacitor, loose connection, cold solder (most likely), fault relay, relay driver, relay driver capacitor;
  • of course primary suspect would be the finals and presence/absence of +/- supply voltage.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy New Year.

A component is overheating... likely in the power supply area. you need some compressed air to blow air on different parts till you narrow down what is overheating.

Onkyo tx-ds656 stand by power light comes on volume control knob rotates to max but display or unit wont start

Try factory reset: while holding the(CD) button on front panel,press (POWER) button.
After "Clear" is displayed the unit should be back to its factory default. :) If this dont work for you take the unit to be checked by service . :)

Everytime I turn a corner or go over a bump the entire system shuts off and reboots. It will do this mutliple times, to the point where its no longer playing music anymore. What's wrong with it?

I would check fusable link on power supply 12 volt DC from battery voltage. if compression springs loose inside link, possible that bumps are causing loss of contact causing power down, then when the reconnect, you get reboot, check entire power supply line from point of power connection to unit.

My remote will not cut on my Bose Cinemate system. I have changed the batteries in my remote and the red light on the receiver is illuminated, so I know the system is operational, . I've also unplugged...

It seems to be a common misconception that the remote is necessary to turn a device on. All devices have hard-wired power controls. Does THAT work? It is unclear which device (remote or the Cinemate) is malfunctioning. If the Cinemate won't turn on by its own power switch the remote won't magically bypass whatever the problem is.

The Cinemate Manual offers some steps to take if it won't turn on, as well as other guidance.

My reciever wont power on but the standby light will come on and when i press power, the stand by light just turns off

It sounds like the output transistors may be putting this into protection mode causing the unit to shut down to avoid further faults. It will need to be serviced.

Sound distortion on beomaster 3300

There is a defect in the pre-amp section of the unit. Without seeing it and taking a few measurements, I can't give you any particulars. A rough estimate for a repair wouldbe about $10-$25 in parts plus the local labor rate.
