Question about RCA Televison & Video
RCA T.V. Model no. P46734B4
The T.V. was working fine. Turned it off and later tried to turn it back on. The on light blinks on and off 3 times then nothing. It's off. You can hear it click each time the light blinks. But not picture and no sound. Can you help?
I would appreciate any advice I can get. I figure that the light blinking on and off 3 times means something.
This is a classic symptom of high voltage shutdown. There is probably a bad flyback [high voltage transformer]. The problem is one for the techs. Replacement usually involves also replacing several H/V components as well. The TV tries to come on, energizing the H/V circuits, then, the protection circuit detects too much current and goes into "protective shutdown" and then tries again. After a few tries, it stops trying. The protective circuit us there to keep from blowing breaker or causing a fire.
If it's an expensive set, take it in to the shop, otherwise go shopping for a new one. This repair can run anywhere from $100 - 400.
