    Found this on a forum:
    The reason for this little rant though has to do with Acer's "Customer-no-service" with regard to having a lockout due to a lost bios password. My Daughter thought she'd be funny and put a password on the boot-up sequence. She of course forgot what she used and I have spent close to 10 hours trying to figure out what the word is. I call Acer and ask them how to find the clear CMOS jumper and am told that there is no such thing but they'll gladly reset it if I send them the machine and spend $100.00 to have them "fix" it.

    I talked to every level of Acer support I could gain access to. I was told the same thing each time. I find this kind of thing to be COMPLETELY unacceptable. I'll never buy another Acer product and woudl not recommend the purchase of one of their machines to an enemy. The very idea that these arrogant schmucks not only want to charge me to do something so elementary is bad enough but they won't provide a schematic of the motherboard so that I can figure it out myelf.

    Fine, they want to treat me in that fashion I can guarantee that I will do everything in my power to make sure that NO-ONE I know will buy anything Acer or Acer related. This is going to cost them a sight more than a hundred bucks.
    Arrogant Corporate Greed - I HATE it!!

    if you are accessing the CMOS battery to nullify the BIOS password, don't bother - you're wasting your time.

    Acer BIOS passwords are contained in Flash RAM. Therefore removing the CMOS battery will only restore your laptop to factory settings while the boot password remains intact.

    On laptops, the password is usually stored in an eeprom on the motherboard,
    you need an eeprom programmer (electronic device) to retrieve it.

    you may need to contact an authorized Acer service center to resolvle this issue.

Cq56 reset bios password

You will have to remove the power cord, remove the batteryand remove the CMOS Battery that is located on the motherboard. On mostcomputers you will have to take the laptop apart to get to the cmosbattery. On some systems it looks like a silver nickel that you will needa small flat head screw driver to pop it out. On other systems it will beinside a vinyl covering and has a cable that plugs into the motherboard. Once you remove the CMOS Battery, let it sit for an hour or two then put itback in and put the laptop back together. Boot the machine and you'llprobably have to go into the Bios or System Setup because the system will haveforgotten the date, time and password.If the password is not reset then you might have to go and remove a Pin from the password jumper on the motherboard. I would consult the user manual and see how to do it.

I need to rest password in bios

Hi,
Removing the RTC battery and leaving it uninstalled for 5 or more minutes causes all passwords and CMOS settings to be cleared. BIOS password can be removed by temporarily disconnecting/ removing the RTC/ CMOS (Coin-cell) battery from the motherboard.
Disconnect the coin-cell battery from the system board and it will reset the BIOS to its default setting and the password would be gone.
Please Refer to Page 29, 106 & 79 of the REPAIR MANUAL IBM T40 for Battery removal, keyboard removal and RTC battery removal instructions.
The Backup Battery (RTC, CMOS) is located under the keyboard. So you have to remove the keyboard to access the battery. The above Manual from IBM shows the exact method/ instructions and pictures for laptop dis-assembly for the purpose.
If you are comfortable with working inside such electronics, you can't do it yourself, or else you may seek help from local laptop service professional.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

My laptop is hp 6510b but problem is i forgott the bios password pls anybody help me

is a internal battery who store password and some boot config. needs some hand work. needs a tecnician.

Remove/disconnect the RTC-battery which is used for buffering the BIOS.

- Unplug AC, take out the main battery;
- take out the RTC-battery for app. half an hour (the period of 5 min as specified in the docs normally is not long enough);
- reconnect RTC-battery;
- plug in the AC adapter (battery still removed).

is the file who can help you.

Forgot my power on password

Remove the battery and to the power cord.
Remove the two screws that secure the keyboard. After removing the keyboard, remove the battery “RTC” to stop providing energy to epprom BIOS. After the upgrade or downgrade, or any repair, leave the Laptop for 5 minutes, without any source of energy.
Then connect only the power cord without battery and without the battery “RTC” of the Bios.
then turn on the pc without the battery and press f10 change the admin password put the battery of the laptop again not the rtc battery then save changes and exit, reeboot with the win xp disk inside , change boot order and done i garantied it work install xp and then connect the rtc battery done. jajaja easy

How to remove power on password on hp compaqnx6110?

You can try reseating the RTC battery:

http://h20464.www2.hp.com/index.html

Real-time clock battery removal Before you begin: Remove the battery and keyboard.
  1. Disconnect the RTC battery cable from the system board
  2. Use a small, flat-bladed, non-conductive tool to flip the RTC battery out of the socket on the top cover.
Real-time clock battery replacement
  1. With the positive (+) side facing up, insert and press the RTC battery into the socket on the top cover.
  2. Reconnect the RTC battery cable to the system board.
If this does not fix the issue, you may have to replace System board

If it is a bios password, you can reset by using the jumper which should be located near the cmos battery.
