All of the jumper settings are printed on the motherboard in the area of the CPU.

You will need to remove the power supply to see them.

The AMD K6 II / 350 has a 100 MHz bus speed and a 3.5 multiplier. I was online with a tech at HP and even they don't know, but if they send the motherboard manual as promised and it has the info I'll post a comment. They did say it can't be done in the BIOS. I can tell you often the major manufacturers used boards where the jumper locations were soldered and didn't even have pins to change the settings, making it pretty hard to upgrade the processor.

Do you see any jumpers on the board at all? Sometimes the multiplier & clock speed info is printed right on the board in tiny white letters.

Good luck.

I found the manual on the net that gives you instructions on replacing components if you're not sure how, it can be found here.

RAM upgrade
The Compaq Presario C700 uses DDR2 Laptop RAM as shown below.
slasher_x_11.jpg The motherboard of the Presario C700 has two RAM slots, one of them will be occupied by the 512MB RAM (running at 667MHz) module you have at present. This leaves one more that can accomodate a DDR2 667Mhz card of up to 1GB or you could get two 1GB DDR2 800MHz (the faster DDR2) cards and remove the 512 leaving you with a wopping 4GB of memory, that'll definately speed it up. Just remember the Presario C700 can only have up to 2GB of RAM so don't go higher than that or Windows will not boot for some reason.

Processor upgrade
The Presario C700 supports any Socket P, Core 2 Duo or Pentiun Dual Core chips. The fastest processor you can get is the Intel T8300 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo Processor with 3MB L2 cache and an 800MHz FSB

For a full list of compatible processors go to page 9 of the user manual found here.

I have a compaq presario 5400 i want to up grade with a new motherboard and processor what will work?

There are a great deal of boards that will work. You have to know what features that you want in a board.

Do you need a built in video card or do you have the video card already?

You will need more RAM because the RAM that you have is old technology now.

I can configure and sell you an upgrade system, but I need more info.

Compaq 120694-101 Motherboard would like to totally upgrade

Hello,

Your PC case will hold any atx motherboard with 4 or less expansion slots. Just about everything made now will fit. You will have to replace your power supply if it still has the standard factory unit installed. The newer boards require an ATX power supply with the additional 4 pin plug for extra power to the CPU. Go to newegg and look for combo deals, they run them all the time. Here is a gigabyte board that is very nice. GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-US2H Micro ATX AMD Motherboard image-3300643-10440897

I hope this solution helps you out.
