A suggestion here--the fact you have sound is a good sign.

This set was prone to one fairly simple problem----If you turn it on and after a minute or so (sound is there) you see a faint band of white or odd noise on the screen, usually to the middle or right side of the screen (hard to see) you have a bad cap and I can tell where it is and what its value is and how to get at it and replace it---less than a 5 dollar part--but you must let me know if you see the faint band top to bottom after a minute or two.

SD TECH

This part is c509 and is marked on the board---it is a .47 microfarad cap at 200 or plus volts and many times the brown cap will have a crack in the side (not always) but if you have the band of noise it is the problem.

There is right and wrong way to get at it to replace if if it is bad.

This is what the board (right side view and on right side as seen from rear of set looks like.)

First of all are you sure you were in the factory menu this step requires alot of known how!!!!!! By using your hand unit only customer controls can be reached unless you know factory menu setup. Which starts like this ,make sure antenna to cable then go to menu set sleep timer to 30 mins exit out now enter ch 124 then press v- down on tv you should now see on top CHK ,also these sets have double convergence patterens.if you were in factory set up for more information look in www.freelists.org techassist/09-2005 .let me know if you still need help.

SOURCE: Panasonic PT-47WX53G Projection TV - convergence problem, can not align completely

I don't know why that guy told you to replace your "DC" board (that is the one you mean, right?) More likely than not, it's your convergence amp integrated circuits (ICs). I had what I think was the same problem (on the same exact model TV) you described, and I looked around alot of blogs and DIY websites, and this seems to be the most prevalent root behind these convergence problems. I ordered the two chips for twelve bucks (for both), spent a few extra bucks (like $35) on some electronic tools / solder supplies, and followed procedures laid out here at http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-i.html, as well as paying strict attention to the service repair manual (which you said you already have?). The result? No more convergence problem, and I saved myself around $400 - $550 over having it done by a professional.

Seriously-- I bet this is the culprit. Just make sure if you're gonna do this that you FIRST check the six resistors (located at spots D-7011 thru D-7016) to make sure there are none burnt out / opened. It may be that one of those is fried also / instead. Since they are far easier to replace, it's good just to rule them out first.

And by the way, just FIY, when I did this I had kept the TV unplugged for about two weeks first, cuz I wanted to make sure all the capacitors were discharged and safe. Did I need that much time? Maybe not (some have said a few hours is sufficient), but I was also primarily concerned about the Flyback Transformer and its wires, which have the highest voltage (up to 30,000 volts) and can hold a charge pretty long. And I'm still here to write about it. So, check out the link, and see if you'd like to try this yourself, as well!

Panasonic pt-47wx53g

You will have two of the STK392-110's in the set so a good idea to replace both. The reason is one of the IC's is dedicated to RED horizontal and vertical and then GREEN horizontal, the other is dedicated to the BLUE horizontal and vertical and then the GREEN vertical. These are the best place to start for ghosting in the colors.
