Question about Emerson MW8777W Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Steady buzzer noise

I have an Emerson MW87735L microwave which works, heats well but its operation is accompanied by a steady buzzer noise that starts within a second of pressing start. It's as if someone is pressing one of those doorbells from the outside of an apartment building.
All I can say is it was hardly used, then left in my parent's basement, then transported to a sister's apartment. It was not dropped, etc. The loud steady buzzing does stop after five minutes of continuous operation.

It may be as simple as a loose screw in the cover causing it to vibrate, or as serious as a failing magnetron.

While a microwave should never be left unattended, it's even more important when one is exhibiting a failure or any odd behavior.

So play it safe and stay with it while it's running.

It may be best to practice watchful waiting and wait until it fails "harder" or more seriously.

There should be a buzzer sound that is made by a piezo. If it isn't sounding correctly then it must have a bad solder joint on it, or the ic that controls it is malfunctioning

Sharp R-1510 1000 watts microwave, not heating

Sounds like the inverter (power supply for cooking) or the magnatron which does the work----neither are cheap parts.

Nec microwave. Turn table working and fan working but the unt is not heating.

Magnetron is no longer function. The magnetron resonates at a specific frequency and outputs energy (microwave frequency) which hits your water atoms within your food and excites them (thus providing a friction = heat).
The magnetron and high voltage diode that accompanies the magnetron need to be replaced.

Hello mbz... Since the operation is impeded, the problem is more than the light bulb. This unit has an internal short, and should be under warranty for the first year. Return it. Joe

Microwave exploded.

Did it make a popping noise, like a .22 cal pistol? Probably one of the larger capacitors on the power supply blew up.

Microwave will turn on but no heating...two weeks old

Hi zmansgirl,

If it's within warranty, I'd exercise that and get it fixed.

Usually, if it appears to run, but isn't heating, the magneto has gone bad. It's not a cheap part, and not really a DIY (do-it-yourself) operation.

Even if not within warranty, I'd have an authorized service center do the job. They should have a list of authorized outlets with your manual and other literature.

If I can be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it accordingly.

Thanks in-advance for using Fixya.com,

Jon
