Question about RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100

My phone Wants me to reset it

My blackberry pearl says "APP Error 523" and it says to "reset" but then i will lose everything on my phone. WHAT DO I DO??????!!!?!?!!!?!

Try to connect to it using the desktop software. you can download this from either your service provider website or, blackberry.com If you can connect to it back the phone up using the software then reset it to factory and put the backup on phone using the same software ... it will be for pearl 8100. If you cannot connect to phone you can try the service provider to see if they can recover it. But I am guessing the software below will be able to connect to it

Here is another solution step by step:
1. Install the software from the CD (that you received with the device), or download it from the service provider (AT&T).

2. Delete or rename the vendor.xml file, here: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader (you're windows file options needs to be set to 'show system files', to see said file...

3. Open Desktop Manager (DM)...

4. Connect the Red Pearl (since am sure that's what you have!)...

5. Doing this will force the pc to see the BlackBerry as new hardware, and thus force it to reload the Operating System (OS)...

6. During the process, select YES to do a backup...

7. The whole process should take about 30-45 minutes...

But, since this has happened so many times, I have to ask myself, is it something you're doing that it causing this? I know the Red Pearls from AT&T have had issues from DAY ONE!

1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.

2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):

"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm

3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.

NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.

Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

How do i solve the APP Error 523 on blackberry tour. I have no password set, i have the OS version 4.7 on the blackberry device. The device loads and shows the error APP Error 523 and reset. Upon reset it...


I had this same problem it was from a third party application that I had downloaded. Go to blackberry.com, and select support and search your APP error it will walk you through a guide on getting it fixed--although your phone will reset back to default.

On the BlackBerry smartphone, the following error message appears after pressing the mute button, accessing an application, or performing a hard reset:
523 app. error. Reset.

To resolve this issue, the BlackBerry Device software will have to be reloaded.

Note: The BlackBerry smartphone will not show a Connected state in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Please proceed to open and run the Application Loader.

A hard reset involves physically removing the battery from the smartphone and then reinserting it. To perform a hard reset, complete the following steps:1) Remove the battery cover from the back of the BlackBerry smartphone.2) Remove the battery, and then reinsert it after a few seconds.3) Replace the battery cover.
A soft reset is a three key combination that resets the BlackBerry smartphone without removing the battery. It is only available on BlackBerry smartphone models with a QWERTY keyboard. SureType technology and touch screen BlackBerry smartphones, such as the BlackBerry Pearl smartphone, BlackBerry Pearl Flip smartphone, and BlackBerry Storm smartphone cannot be reset in this manner.

To perform a soft reset, complete the following steps:1) Press and hold down the ALT key on the smartphone.2) While holding down the ALT key, press and hold down the right-hand CAP key.3) With both of those buttons still pressed, press the DELETE key. The display on the BlackBerry smartphone will turn off to indicate that the reset has started, and the keys can now be released.
