Question about Sirius Satellite Radio Receiver

1 Answer

Cannot set fm frequency on radio

I have found an FM frequency on my car radio that is not being used.
I cannot get it to show up on my stratus 5 satellite radio.
I have tried everything and read the online things 10 times.

How do I set the satellite radio to a new frequency. It only shows the preset one that does not work in my area. The other 4 show as Empty.

The online suggestions for my area for frequencies to use are being used by radio stations.

I have a Stratus 5

There is only one frequency showing on the Receiver and that is one that is being used by a radio station.

  • bonnie_june_ Jan 01, 2009

How do you "enter" a frequency?? That seems to be my problem

  • bonnie_june_ Jan 01, 2009

There is no dial on the Receiver.

I can scroll down to 5 entries.

All but one show as "Empty'

  • bonnie_june_ Jan 01, 2009

No nothing will input, should it?

  • bonnie_june_ Jan 01, 2009

    Ok, but how???

  • bonnie_june_ Jan 01, 2009

I have done plenty of research online and still cannot figure it out.

    I have a sirius stratus5

When I go to the Frequency selector it shows only one station:

81.5 and that is being used by a radio station here. The others say

"empty" and I cannot see a way to put the FM station frequency in

I would appreciate your help if you can find anything else.

Cannot find the Frequency tuning step by step!

  • bonnie_june_ Jan 01, 2009

so I think I have to go to a more open space and set my radio again and hope it picks the station up

I am thinking that the satellite radio will pick them up automatically

and then I will have them on that list to pick from

    Has to be the problem

I live in mountains so I may not be able to use this sat radio

    thanks for the help

Go through the Settings Menu on the Reciever until you see Frequency Select It and then turn the dial until it matches the same frequency that you are using on the Radio.

You should be able to Enter a Frequency or Dial in another. If not you may have gotten a Bad reciever. I went through 4 before I got a Good one for my Truck.

The static level is so high I am unable to hear the radio.

Under menu, select FM frequency. Try using different frequency. A nearby FM station could be bleeding its signal onto the FM frequency your unit is using by default.

No sound when put on 88.3 fm

I didn't think this unit had an included FM transmitter - so I looked around for more info, and everything I've found indicates it does not.

It will however play audio via the built-in speaker or headphone jack. Use of a third party FM transmitter will allow playing audio (navigation, alerts, MP3 or audio books) when connected to the headphone jack and with both the FM transmitter and FM radio set to the same frequency.

The FM transmitter will work best when set to a frequency that is unused and has the least amount of interference from adjacent stations. Check by tuning the car radio across the FM band and note frequencies that have those qualities. Leave the radio on one of the clear frequencies and set the FM transmitter to the same displayed on the radio. You should try several to find the one that works best. Also, be aware that as you travel, you may enter an area where that frequency (or one close by) is in use by a broadcaster. This will require repeating the process as needed to reduce interference.
