Question about Denon AVR-2106 Receiver

1 Answer

My Denon AVR 2106 gives sound out periodically in all modes

I have a AVR 2106 which works when it feels like it. I can get the FM on 50 percent of the time but the other modes I get ZIP. Sometimes if I leave the unit on for a long period of time it comes on.

I have tried everything but reseting it, if I knew how I would. At this point I would never buy a Denon again even though they are rated high.

I have lights and the unit notes digital or optical depending of what mode i am in if this helps.

Ideas PLEASE

thx

I was told by a gentleman that repairs units that my main amplfier was fried and the cost would be near $400 to repair. That cost me $25 to find out.

Bummer as well as it was a good sounding system. I did the reset stuff and it worked for a day or 2, then went off completely.

The one thing nice about this reciever was the fact that it checked to polarity of the wires. Negative vs Positive.

Is the amp cost to repair $400?

So you have no sound on any Inputs?  This makes a difference, if it works on some inputs but not others.  For a factory reset - turn the unit off by the ON/OFF button (not the standby button) hold in the SPEAkER A & B buttons at the smae time, while pressing them turn the system on by the ON/OFF button, wait about 3 seconds and the unit should reset everything.

Sorry to hear that.  I have sold Denon AVRs for close to 8 years, and have had VERY little problems with them. If you get it fixed or get a new one, you really should check your speakers and the wiring to make sure the problem that hurt that Denon is not still there, and will cause another amp to go bad.

Denon avr-2106 getting hot shutting down

Normally when this happens it is because the impedence load is too small. This unit requires 8 Ohm speakers. If you connect 4 Ohm speakers, it will work, but work harder and generate excessive heat. If the heat is too much, the unit will enter protect mode and shut down. Once it cools off, it will work again. In your case, if the speakers are the correct impedence, check for crossed wires. If that is the problem, running the unit at higher volume levels should cause it to shutdown sooner.

Problem getting the best surround sound when watching a dvd

THE BEST SOUND IS WHAT SOUNDS BEST TO YOU, HOWEVER DO THIS:
1, USING THE SETUP MIC CONFIGURE YOUR DENON, PAGE 8 OF THE MANUAL. NEXT
2. RAISE THE REAR SPKR LEVELS, PAGE 46,47. NEXT
3. WHEN LISTENING TO AUDIO CD OR RADIO TRY THE 5 CH STEREO DSP MODE.
4. WHEN WATCHING A DVD USE DSP DOLBY PROLOGIC OR TRY 5CH STEREO IF THE MOVIE IS MOSTLY TALKING.
5, TRY 5CH STEREO WHEN WATCHING PROGRAMS WITH MOSTLY TALKING

Denon AVR 2106 amp failure

Does it still power up for a little bit or so with no sound what so ever?....I there is no dents in it or metal pushed in causing cracked connector boards....I can take it off you hands for a couple parts I need ...because your transformer and 2 resisters are shot and it will cost almost as much as the unit cost's.

I do have a brand new never opend $649.99 Denon AVR-788 for $365.00.
And 2 used AVR units Denon and Onkyo.....ALL HDMI

HAVE TO UP VOLUME ON DENON 2106 TO HEAR ALL AUDIO IN NIGHT MODE

There should be a volume adjust on the center channel. This is done by the remote exclusively. You may also wish to compress the sound using the dynamic range compression button or so labeled.

Denon AVR-810 going into PROTECTION mode

It sounds like there is a problem with the differential circuit. The bias I am not sure about, as every unit is different. You should get the service manual to be sure or call Denon and see if they can give you an idea. Good Luck
