Try changing the cord out I had the same problem on mine which has a manufacturer date of 2007, when I changed the power cord out to a one with a higher voltage it worked fine.
go to the manufacture website and look up your model of remote. Then program your remote to the tv. If you have done this then this next part is just for you. Usually u can adjust all the tv settings from the menu button. Be sure you are on the right input and AV setting if you can not access these settings then either go to manual operation or follow up with manufacture specs for your tv www.eliztech.com/remotes/ge-howto.php
There is a problem with the vertical circuit and depending on whether or not the fault is detected, the set may be shutdown. Many times this is just a case of poor solder connections at the vertical IC. If you feel comfortable working inside the set and can solder, please update this and I'll provide additional details and instructions.
press power, if this turns tv off press SELECT to save. if not press TV then POWER again. when the remote turns your telly off remember to press your SELECT button to save it to your sky remote.
Try hooking up the dvd player and turning it on. Then use the setup and add/erase channel feature to look thru all of the channels. On my older GE tv I found that channel 91 was the correct channel for the video input. I saw the logo for the dvd player on this channel. I just added that channel and now it works. Your channel might be different.
I just bought a 32" dynex lcd and saw that i couldn't program my two $5 ge remotes to work it. From reading in this forum and others I'm not the only one with the problem, I thought I was stuck with only the dynex remote. But the dynex website tells you how to get universal remotes to work,
It tells you to try the codes for Orion, Emerson, Memorex, Sansui, Sylvania, Zenith. The second orion code worked for me. both my ge remotes look and work the same but one uses a four digit code and the other uses a three digit code. I used 0135 on one and 135 on the other. There is a good chance that if you try the codes for the brands dynex lists you will find one that works. The 0135 or 135 might work for most dynex tv's.
If you have a ge remote and haven't programmed it for volume punch through you might try it. It allows the tv volume to be controlled using the ge remote even when it's set to something other than tv.
