On the right-hand side near the cd rom drive, there is a switch that moves back and forth. move it towards the back of the computer. that should turn on your wireless capabilities. A wi-fi manager screen should pop and and you should be good to go.
Thanks, it was very helpful... we could not find it... since it's kinda hidden... I think we'd be in trouble with wi fi if not your post! Great! :-)

Here is the answer... (For Vista)
Go to the icon at the bottom right yellow/blue arrows (Dell Quickset) Open it.
Then go WiFi Catcher/radio controls (click it to open it).
Then go to "advanced settings" at the bottom of the pop up (open it - click it).
Then select the TAB "Radio Control Options"
Then UN-check all the radios and wifi, then apply, then OK. Your green bars should work now...
Good luck!
Check to see if the computer had wireless capabilities built in, otherwise you will need to buy a wireless adapter for the laptop.
If you are using a Windows OS, you should be able to go to the control panel, and select "connect to." from there you should be able to see if you can get onto a wireless network, but If you are unable, im not exactly sure because as you stated im only familiar with the laptops that have the button to turn it off or on.

My dad has a Dell laptop which has buma stemra virus on it. I tried to remove it with the rescue CD but it asks me to do so with internet. The internet does NOT turn on. I tried WITH THE FUNCTION KEY, WITHOUT IT, EVEN THE KEYS AT ALL SIDE OF THE PC but it does NOT work.

there is a button near to the DVD rom tray...you can slide it to activate wireless..

you should have software that came with Dell but failing that you can use Windows by clicking connect to on the Start Menu
SOURCE: CANNOT CONNECT WIRELESS MOUSE TO DELL INSPIRON 1525
this is a bluetooth mouse, if you have used it before then you'll need to remember how to sync it with your computer ( you should have some sort of bluetooth manager window that will be able to find the moue and communicate with it.
If you haven't used it before you might not have bluetooth built into that computer ( i have an inspiron 1525 and i don't )in which case you'll need to buy a bluetooth dongle which will plug into your USB port and will communicate with the mouse for you. The dongles are pretty cheap though, here is a link to one for 2.54$

Well it has wireless capabilities and is wireless ready, however when it was being worked on the wireless capabilities were turned off. On my older dell there was a button to turn it back on, this one does not have one. I am just wondering how to turn them back on after they have been turned off.
bluetooth is not working anf FN+F2 do nothing
it says turn on network capabilities... there is no switch
I have moved my button to the back also, and it does not work. The WIFI light on laptop does not even come on
Sad.
Wireless worked before. It stop on its own and the wifi light does not come on. It it keeps on saying no network.
The switch on the side is on, but I still get this problem.
