Question about Whirlpool LAB2700ML Pedestal Drawer for Duet Washers & Dryers
Hello, I have a dryer that is not working. Yesterday we used the dryer without problem and then all of a sudden we started having a problem. You can put the controls on as normal and select the type of cycle and the time for that particular cycle is shown on the control display. When you push the cycle start the time shown changes to "--" and the cycle does not start as normal. When you release the cycle start button it shows the original cycle time for the cycle that was requested. Note - The dryer was working fine yesterday. It is about 4 years old and we have not had problems with it previously. No other symptoms were noticed leading to this problem. I hope you can offer some advise here. I could not find any service manuals online though I was able to find one for the washer. I am somewhat capable of doing repairs myself and am looking for advise as to what the problem is, how to fix it, possibly parts that need to be changes, or whatever advise you can provide. We are hoping for a sunny day to hang out clothes to get us by for now! lol I look forward to your response. Regards, William Laird Edmonton, KY
William, start with the simple things first. Make sure the control is not locked by pressing and holding the end of cycle signal for 3 seconds. This will lock and unlock the controls. If that is in order the next step would be the door switch. By pressing in this order: more time, less time, more time, less time you will enter the diag mode and all the lights should light up. Open the door and you should hear a beep and see a code, such as OE,1E,2E etc. If no beep is heard you could have an issue here. You can also check this at the board. You have to remove the top cover by removing the 3 screws in back. Slide the top off toward the back. The board is on the left. With the power disconnected ohm out P1-2 (white wire) and P1-3 (blue wire). With the door closed you should read continuity. Start with this first and post back...Catriver.

We have the same issue as described above by William. Controls appear normal, but when "Start" burton is held like normal to start a cycle "--" is displayed and the machine does not start. The machine operates properly throughout the diagnostic mode without error codes etc., and the machine runs when start is pressed while in the diagnostic mode. The door switch tests OK. The Moisture Sensor tests OK.
We have replaced the Machine Control Electronics with a refurbished unit in a failed effort to jump ahead, and while the Thermal Fuse tested OK, it has also been replaced. The machine's condition is unchanged.
We'll continue with Belt Switch tests, etc.
Perhaps someone has additional thoughts. If so, thank you in advance. We'll post progress.
Best Regards,
Jeff

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
This is a common issue with Whirlpool Duet however, your whirlpool duet needs a reset to resolve the control lock
problem. Press and hold the END OF CYCLE/CYCLE SIGNAL button for 15 seconds to
reset the control. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
