I have a Frigidaire Gallery heavy duty dryer model 417.49012890. The coils in back were getting fire red when in use. I vacuumed out the entire dryer which included removing the screws from the inside. I believe the drum fell. I have reattached the outer 3 screws but cannot get the inside 3 screws to line up at all! Help!
The part that attaches to the drum (you are placing the screws in) comes out. It is a single bearing with a plate welded to it that places in a slot to allow the drum to spin.
I removed the screws for then Amex reason and replaced the, without removing the drum...took 4hours! I did it alone and used a soccer cleat as a wedge to hold the drum up in the back. Then I used a flashlight and placed three long nails into the holes to help the, lined up. Then I shoved my upper body into the opened dryer to push against the back while I got those tiny screws back into place. Never again!
Ouch budddie...happy new year ...looking in the dryer are you taking about those there center mass,,,if that attactes the back bearing surport to the drum...,,if that the two parts which i think your talking about ..you have to take the drum all the way out,,because those three screws are shape like a piece of pizza....it will never line up with drum in...

Happy New Year to you too!
This is my first post to pretty much anything and I'm glad you can understand "dumb girl" :)
Yes, I'm talking about the exact part that attaches into the center to support the drum. The screws are messing up my life! I've found some manuals and diagrams about taking this thing apart and I'm working on getting the drum out. I agree, it's not going to line up if I don't!
Thanks for your quick response!
