Problem for Canon PowerShot S1 IS Digital Camera

Black screen cant take photos

when i look at the camera window i see no object, just black screen with few with black square in middle, the rest is functioning i mean tghe flash is working etc but no image can be seen.

- BLACK SCREEN , NO EMAGES , 1 SMALL SQUARE IN THE MIDDLE OF SCREEN . FLASH WORKS AS IF TAKING PICTURE . OLD PICTURES SHOW ON VIEW .
RESET TO ORIGINAL DEFAULT . NO CHANGE .- JIM WILBANKS

- When I turn on the camera the viewfinder and led screen are grey,but I can review my photos prev. taken . If you take a picture that also ended up being grey. - Guest

I had this problem today with my S1 IS. I did a google search for similar symptoms and found that many digital camera models made between 2002 and 2004 have a CCD issue. I called Canon's Customer Support (1-800-828-4040) and they offered to fix the problem for free. Hope this helps!

This was GREAT help! Lucky that I found this. I called the Cannon and they are going to fix this at their cost!
