I had this problem today with my S1 IS. I did a google search for similar symptoms and found that many digital camera models made between 2002 and 2004 have a CCD issue. I called Canon's Customer Support (1-800-828-4040) and they offered to fix the problem for free. Hope this helps!

Can the LED screen be replaced?

This LCD screen has been hit by a hard object, that is why there is a black spot. You need the screen to be replaced, a digital camera repairer can fix the camera for you.

The picture has a delayed action

It's not possible to take a photo in a second, because the camera needs to get in focus the object you're taking picture of.

You have a square on your display that indicates where the focus will be.
With whatever function you use, you need to press the shutter button halfway and wait for the camera to focus on the object. When it's focused you will hear the click and the square will turn green.
Now your pictures shouldn't be blurry.

Images of square subjects taper to the left

Your post is rather general, but I will see what I can do for you:

My guess is that the camera and the subject are not lined up properly to produce a square image. The same thing happens when you point the camera up at a tall building. Since the top of the building is farther away it appears smaller in the image, like the buildings taper as they get taller.

When taking a picture of a square object, you need to have the surface of the object parallel to the body of the camera in order for it to appear square in the image. Additional, most of the time, you will also have to shoot directly at the middle of the object as well.

Small amounts of this distortion can be corrected in PhotoShop.

White screen on Sony Cybershot T70

I just fixed my white screen problem...

My problem was white display in photo mode; but in play mode was OK.
I could see on display old pictures, but I couldn't take new pictures (they were coming white also).

I have taken the camera apart as you see in youtube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZqOxENaNVI&playnext=1&list=PL48FE02C236B89F6E
In the same video you see him taking off a component from the old objective and attach it to the new objective.
THAT was my problem.
There is a little electronic circuit on that component, and it has a little square black chip.
Few of its legs were not soldered properly.
I just re-soldered them, put everything back, and in less than 30 minutes I have fixed my camera.

I have to warn you....do it at your own risk.
Thereare some, no, all parts are so small, you need a good magnifier to seethem, a nice easy-steady hand and a good solder-iron with a very tinytip.
And of course if you have 30 years experience in electronics (as I do) = much better.

And when you think I spent some time online with Sony for a repair quote = ?120
I said better I buy another camera from ebay than paying that much...

Canon showing black screen

needs to go in to a camera shop for repair, either the shutter is broken in the lens or the CCD is bad...could be more than that but, It would have to get disassembled to determine that. I work on Olympus cameras and have found that sometines it's easier to let someone with a box of spare parts fix it...

Printer won't scan a picture

I had the same problem, but I was able to scan my first photo today. If you are using Windows Vista and have Windows Photo Gallery on your system, you should be able to scan your photo/documents. Open Windows Photo Gallery 1. Click File, and then click Import from Camera or Scanner.
2. In the Import Pictures and Videos window, click the scanner that you want to use, and then click Import.

The rest should be self explanatory. Good luck!
