When i plug the zune into my computer, it won't recognize it
I just got a used 30 gb zune and had no problems with it until today. Now every time i plug the zune into the computer, it tells me that it's there, but the software won't recognize that the zune is connected. At this point, the zune freezes on the loading screen and is unresponsive until i disconnect the battery. I have tried removing and reinstalling the software, checking my drivers, restarting my zune, and restarting my computer.
Re: when i plug the zune into my computer, it won't...
It's a glitch with Microsoft. All 30 gig units are affected. It's a
leap year and the extra day threw the software. Let it discharge
overnight and plug into your computer in the morning to load. Microsoft
is supposed to have a fix. Thousands are affected.

have a 30 GB Zune that crashed today while I was using it; all you need to do is press all the buttons on the front of the player for around ten seconds or so, and the logo will come onto the screen and the player will reboot. I believe the black screen means the Zune has crashed for some reason, but this method worked for me, so give it a try. (Mind you as well that I had it plugged into the computer at the time as well when I did this. But now it works just fine for me.)
What you can do is change the date or time on your computer in which your Zune is plugged into, and it can fix it.
If that doesn't work, look up how to take it apart, then unplug the hard-drive chord and replug it in.
Then charge it and ureka it worked!
You may have to do this a few times for it to work.
JUST HOLD THE BACK BUTTON AND THE UP BUTTON FOR 30 SEC. AND YOU WILL BE GOOD DON'T WORRY PEOPLE.... ALSO WHEN I FREZZE ALOT THAT MEANS YOU DATA ON THE ZUNE IS COUPPORTED AND YOU WILL NEED TO RESET THE WHOLE DEVICE OK.
after much research on this matter in the past few hours. To resolve this situation don't shut the zune down by holding play/pause button it does not shut down properly that way.
Hold down the down & back button down until shuts off....zune recommends as the best way to turn off your zune. Also if you are having problems holding charge, a lot of people replaced the original charge plug and found that it worked again. these cables usually become faulty from previous models and 30gigs. So buy a new cable & shut it down correctly.
Still no worky??? Call zune, within 1 year they will accept it for repairs. They may even send you a new refurbished zune...since they no longer are making the 30 gig...probably for those reasons.
I hope this advice not only helps you but myself. Who wants an expensive paperweight...not I!
