Same thing has happened to mine twice now. The first time I cracked it open and found that the card that attaches to the "mother board" was loose. I carefully reattached it to it's port with a snap, put it back together and it worked. Seems it was a symptom of dropping the mic after those power ballads ;-). However, now that trick won't work. No power no matter what I try. There are a few "reset" tricks in the song book you can try.

Same problem. Tried all the obvious and the reset tricks. How do you get it open?

Did you make sure all the song cartridges are installed in the right direction? If they are not, then no power.

How do I get the power to work?

Where do you connect the power if mains fed 220volt or 110volt if so try a test lamp where you plug the power in. Some periferal sets only works as a set and the power of the turntable is not mains but a lower D.C. voltage normally 12 volts. As you got another unit I suspect the supply. Ask the company that you purchased it from (If the power is something else than your mains supply) to just check your amplifier. To try to imagine the problem without the units is difficult to give help but this is all that it can be

My U87 microphone won't power up...no signal. does anyone know why this may be happening?

Was it working fine before it stopped powering up? The U87 is a condenser microphone so maybe the reason it is not powering up is because the phantom power on your interface was not turned on. Plug the U87 into your preamp and then switch on the phantom power (48V) to get it powered up. If that doesn't help, there must be an internal fault within the microphone or in your preamp.

Can't operate my MXL 990

If it is an MXL 990 Condenser that comes in the grey case with a shockmount and a black hard mount I can solve your problem. (If it is USB I know nothing about that unit).

This MXL 990 microphone MUST have 48v phantom power in order to operate. If you aren't familiar with the term phantom power read the first link:

Phantom power - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_power
MXL User Guide - http://www.mxlmics.com/support/guides.html

If yours is one of the older MXL 990's it should have an XLR connector on the bottom -
XLR Defined - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XLR_connector

Your mixer (I am guessing its a Peavey, Tascam, Mackie) or something entry level like that may or may not have phantom power. I am guessing not. But if it does, it will have a switch that says 48v phantom power and most likely a green or red LED next to it to show you when its on. This mic will NOT work without phantom power.

Best suggestion: Verify that your mic is the MXL 990 Condenser, if it is it needs 48v phantom power. Check your mixer and see if it has 48v phantom power. The only computer soundcard that I know of that is used by a lot of folks is the M-Audio Delta 1010LT. It has XLR inputs but NO phantom power on it.

There's your answer.

Sennheiser SK 100 Bodypack Transmitter won't power up.

Hello. I Am Not Familiar With This Exact Model, But I Have And Still Do Own A Number Of Wireless Units. There Are A Number Of Things That Can Go Wrong, But If The Unit Wont Power Up, I Would First Check The Battery Compartment For Loose Battery Connections. Over Time They Can Weaken Or Just Get Bent The Wrong Way. Then I Would Look For Loose/Unsoldered Wiring. I Have Encountered Many Cases Where The Battery Compartment Contacts Become Loose , Or The Wiring Going To It. Good Luck

No Sound Coming out my Microphone

i know this might sound a little obvious and maybe irrelevant to the problem, but did you press the switch on the mic? it will turn the mic on and off. make sure sound and mic are unmuted in windows volume control. if both are these didnt solve the problem, test the mic on another computer. if the mic works, maybe its not the mic that has the problem. if the mic doesnt work, then your mic may be defective or damaged in some way or other.
