Sound problem ns-LCD37

Hi, i have a ns-LCD37 and have no sound, except for when the tv has been on for about 4 hours and then it turns on.

  • viadavid Jan 03, 2009

well. i got this tv about 2 months ago and the sound worked fine. Then one day about a week and a half ago, when i turned the tv on, the sound wasnt working. Since i only use the tv for video games, i figured it didnt matter that much, so i just played without the sound. Then after about 2 or 3 hours, there was a little scratching noise, and then the sound turned on again. The same thing happens every time i turn the tv on.

Hmmm. Sounds like an intermittant connection somewhere. Check all your cbles, particularly the cables from your video game system. If that doesn't change anything, take the TV to the service depot (it should still be under warranty) and have them chase down the audio system; there may be a broken connection somewhere. Sometimes, as components heat up, they expand, and a broken connection will expand just enough to make contact again.

Change input device to some other which you know works for sure. If problem persists, try changing the channel. If you notice same problem, this may need attention by a qualified service technician.

I have a Insignia NS-LCD37 for the past 3-4 years and last night i turned it on and got zero sound. I unplugged it and turned it back on and then the sound worked. then a few hours later I turned it on...

Two options - open it up if you have electronics experience - replace the AV board or trouble shoot the board for bad components. Usually this is hard to do without the proper tools and training. you can check to see if it has busted/bulged/leaking capacitors though...

thanks,
michael

My screen is totally black.

If you still get sound, then the problem can be in the backlight inverter board or in the power supply that supplys the power to the inverter board. Look at those two places.

Insignia NS-LCD37 TV - no sound

Start checking the cable connection to receiver, try moving or replacing cables.

If you have a surround with external speakers check surround connection cable and speakers wiring.

If the cables are OK, then the unit may be faulty.

In that case the fault can be either the audio board (often audio circuit is integrated on the main board) , or the sinput output signal board.
Also a contact on connection to internal speakers can give you same problem.
