Re: Printhead replaced; still says yellow is empty
Driver could be corrupt. Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

This probably could be defective Printhead ( black/yellow )
Follow the steps below and it should resolve the issue, if not, you need to replace the K/Y Printhead. You can purchase it from any nearest departmental store like bestbuy or costco or walmart etc or Call HP and order one.
Open the front access door. ( printer must be power on ) Remove the Latch of the Printheads Remove the Printhead Clean the Contacts with lint free cloth ( golden contacts or electrical contacts / not the nozzles ) Re-install the Printhead back in its position and close the front access door. The printer usually goes thru initialization process. or Turn off the printer and turn on. If you still get the error message, Replace the K/Y Printhead.

This means that you have a defective printhead. Kind of costly. You might try making sure your individual color cartridges are good. Sometimes, the yellow single cartridge can leak out prematurely and give you these error. Look for the black or yellow cartridge to have a leak of color on the outside. If so...replace that one. Sounds like either the black or yellow is bad though. If not...then one of your master print heads (separate from your individual ones) is defective.
check the printhead.... print a print quality page from the settings button select print reports then print that page. there is a printhead health area as well as color blocks if there is streaks in the black yellow blocks or says poor the black/yellow printhead needs to be replaced. if it says good call hp for further troubleshooting and possible replacement under warranty
Unfortunately this seems to be a common problem with this printer model. You can try reinstalling the cartridge but I would call HP and ask for a replacement printer. Here's a link to a forum that shows others having the same problem as you.
Re-insert the print cartridges. It is also possible that the heads are burnt. Get a new set of print heads (black/yellow) and install to the printer. If problem persists, clean the contacts on the printers. Use acetone + cotton swabs.
Hi, its sad to say but the printer sounds that needed to be send to the nearest service center in your area. You already reseat & replace the ink cartridge and issue still present. Please call your printer manufacturer so that they can give you more options aside from sending it to service center. Thank you so much,
