I can not upgrade windows, javaor my restore point/ what can I do ?

Windows XP comes in two editions: Home and Professional. The Home edition is intended for a casual computer user while Professional is intended for an office context. If you are experiencing slow performance in Windows XP Home Edition, you may want to reboot the operating system, which is defined as simply reloading the operating system by restarting the computer.

Turn off all peripheral devices connected to your computer, including speakers, printers, scanners and external hard drives. Click the "Start" button located in the bottom left corner of the desktop and select "Turn off Computer." From the "Turn off Computer" menu, select "Turn Off." Allow the computer to completely shut down. Give the computer sufficient time to rest and make sure that there is absolutely no noise coming out of the computer. Unplug the power cord from the power source and wait at least five seconds. Plug the power cord back into the power source. Turn the computer back on by pressing the "Power" button on the computer and wait for Windows XP to reload. or factory settings Restart the computer. Press the "F8" key after the computer reboots but before the "Windows" logo appears on the screen. You should now see the "Advanced Boot" menu. Scroll down through the menu options using the down arrow key. Stop when "Repair Your Computer" is highlighted and hit the "Enter" key. Select the language you wish to use and press the "Enter" key. Type in the computer's administrator ID and password. Press the "Enter" key. Scroll through the options using the down arrow key. Choose "Restore (name of computer manufacturer) Settings." Press the "Enter" key. Choose "Yes" when asked if you want to reformat the hard drive. Press the "Enter" key to begin the reformatting process. The process takes a few minutes, so be patient. Do not turn off the computer or attempt to stop the process after it has begun, or this may result in major damage to the hard drive. Choose "Finish" and press the "Enter" key to restart the computer. The computer will restart with the original factory settings.
Hope this helps.

What button do i press on my acer extensa 5235 to use a monitor instead of the laptop screen as it is smashed

1. Down near the botton left corner of your keyboard, you should see a blue colored "Fn" key.
2. Look at your top row of Function Keys F1-F12. Locate the one with a picture of a monitor on it. It is typically F5 or F7.
3. While Holding the "Fn" key, hit the F5 or F7 key. Give the laptop about 3 seconds to switch between modes.

That should switch the display over for you.

My computer is saying the sims 2 double deluxe installed but i cant find it no where on my computer and when i put it in the install comes up and it says its already installed but cant find it

The game files are in the Program Files folder of your C drive. You can actually perform a file search from File Explore. However, if you are talking about your saved games, then those will be in your User folder in some location depending on which Windows Operating System you have installed.

NO OPERATING SYSTEM FOUND"MESSAGE"

Hello meynardot, for the CPU to: Find the OS!

Follow these instructions
To get the Computer to "Boot into the 'OS,' and Loading Windows."
  • Restart the Computer
  • Next, just before the [Page] that you mentioned, "Displays," {Press the F12} button.
  • This will open the "Boot Menu:" [Priority Boot Sequence] window.
  • There will be a "list" of (Devices), Optical Drive / CD, SATA / HardDisk Drive, or USB...
  • I do not know the "Configuration of your Operating System" or the Drive: that "holds the Boot [NTLDR] files.
  • It may also hold the "Master Boot Record" or Boot.ini file?
  • So, what you need to do is give the Drives a "Priority Boot Sequence," meaning , you will 'place' the Drives in the 'order' of Bootup [First] listings.
  • You will use the {Arrow buttons} to 'move the "Drives."
  • More than 'likely' it will be the (*Optical Drive / SATA or Hard Disk Drive}.
  • Try each, and hopefully the Computer will make it to "Windows," and you can "Login!"

"Please let me know if you 'need' further assistance; by posting a "Comment 'or' Rating the Solution." Thanks, your 'response' is important!"

Compaq Preario V5245eu cant get past scrolling xp window just restarts and doesn'r get anywhere have had a c000021a fatal error warning- help please Rodger

If you attempt to install a piece of hardware or software on your PC computer that is incompatible with your system, you may see a blue screen with a C000021a fatal error warning. The easiest way to recover the Windows operating system from this type of error is to restore your computer to a previously working state.
1.Press the "F8" key on your keyboard when prompted during the boot process.

2.Use the up-and-down arrow keys to highlight the "Last Known Good Configuration" option. Then hit "Enter.
3.Use the up-and-down arrow keys to highlight the operating system version that you wish to boot up to, and then hit "Enter" again. The system will now restart to the last working version of your operating system, which will eliminate the C000021a fatal error.
Hope this helps

When I turn on my computer I get a grey screen for a few minutes until a blinking folder with a question mark in it appears. Often, my computer shuts off after the question mark folder disappears. I have...

The blinking question mark means that you macintosh can't find a bootable disk. It has nothing to do with the VGA connection. More than likely, your directory structure on the disk is bad. An excellent product to fix this is Disk Warrior. It has saved more hard drives for me than I care to think about. Worth every penny.
As far as booting up from a disk, just put in the CD and hold down the C key until you see the spinning icon.
You could also try these to things if you don't want to purchase disk warrior, but I don't think they will work. Hold down the shift key while you boot until you see the apple logo. The shift key is to boot it in safeboot mode. Or, you could also reset the pram:
  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
  5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  6. Release the keys.

IMac 10.4.11 all of a sudden only boots in safe mode

try resetting the SMC and the NVRAM. This occasionally stores the startup state and any keystrokes used during boot. Common issue with all intel macs. Resetting PRAM and NVRAM 1. Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models. To reset the SMC on an iMac 1. From the Apple menu, choose Shut Down (or if the computer is not responding, hold the power button for approximately ten seconds until it powers off). 2. Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord. 3. Wait at least 15 seconds. The SMC reset occurs automatically once the iMac has been unplugged from the AC power source for several seconds. 4. Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time. 5. Reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer. 6. Press the power button on the back to start up your computer. Note: The iMac does not have a button on the main logic board for resetting the SMC, which eliminates the need to remove the computer?s cover to reset it (as required for some other models).
