Question about D-Link DIR-625 (790069292637) Wireless Router

Can't connect to the internet with the laptop.

We have the DIR-625 wireless router. Suddenly, for some reason we can't get on the internet with our new Toshiba laptop or the Wii. The Wii was able to connect to the internet before, but the new computer (a Christmas gift) has never connected. The main desktop works fine getting on the internet as usual. I tried turning off the computer, unplugging the router and then reconnecting and turning everything back on. Still, the laptop says there is a network connection unplugged. I took the laptop to a library and to Best Buy and it hooked up to the internet just fine in both places. This router is ~2 years old. Do I have to buy a new one or is there some trick to fixing this one? Thank you very much.

If I’ve understood correctly, you could connect wirelessly at the library, but can’t at home? The ‘Network Cable is unplugged’ message refers to a wired Ethernet connection, so unless you are trying to make a wired connection, we can disregard that for now.

It’s possible you have some security settings on your router, which might prevent the Toshiba wireless card from ‘seeing’ the network or connecting to it.

Can you login to your router (with a wired connection) and check whether the SSID (network name) is being broadcast, and whether MAC address filtering is enabled?

SSID broadcast is under Setup > Wireless Settings > ‘Visibility Status’. Set to Visible if necessary. MAC filtering is under Advanced > Network filter. If it’s ON, set it to OFF for the moment. When you reboot the Toshiba, can it now ‘find’ the network?

Please check back if you need a hand with this or if this is not the problem.

If thats only the problem, try first to reset the router than to buy new one..right? i share with u this because its global crisis..jz a joke..by the way, try to reset the router within 30 seconds of pressing the reset botton backside of the router...theres a small hole..use a pin to reset that botton..and after that, you reconfigure your router..and hope everything is new..its seems to be factory reset...keep in touch...dude..

Try to configure the DIR-625 wireless router. Connect your computer to one of the LAN port to one of the router. Then access the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1) configure as dynamic IP then clone the MAC address. Make sure that you modem is connected to Internet port section of the router. Check the Internet connection after the configuration leave the other behind check the connection of the main router before installing the other one.

Cannot configure D-Link DIR 625 wireless router

Hey Raj - Unplug your modem and router. After 60 seconds plug your modem back in. When the lights return to normal (except the activity light) , plug your router back in. Give it 10 seconds and try it. If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If not, DO NOT RATE YET. Just add a comment letting me know what happened and I'll be happy to assist you further. Thanks.

Can not connect laptop to router ?

The 1st thing I recommend is you connect the laptop directly to the Dlink router using a standard patch network cable. See if you can get on the internet using that method. If you can't then we know you have a problem somewhere else.

did this model ship with a built in wireless card?

Thanks,
Brad Nelson
