Blank screen on Qosmio f45 after power down when a program froze

I was updating McAffee virus online when the download quit responding. Task manager would not come up so I powered off then on. Starts to boot up then hit a blank flat line cursor screen. Can access BIOS but f5 anf f8 function keys will not let me access a restore partition or safe mode.

Your problem sounds like mine. When I power it on I get a blank white bar, the Q logo, and the Phoenix BIOS logo. Then it goes to the white blinking cursor. Looks like the BIOS is bad. I called Toshiba looking for a way to reset it. He had me pull the battery and the power cord then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to attempt a reset. You might try it, but it didn't work for me. I took the machine apart using the instructions at to look for the BIOS reset button the CSR said was on the motherboard, but I can't find it. If you can, please let me know where to find it and what it looks like. Thanks,

How to force quit uncooperative programs on a PC.

Have you ever encountered annoyingly slow or freezing programs that will not quit when you try to close a window? There is a simple keystroke you can use to quit the programs:Ctrl+Alt+Del. This enables you to access the Task Manager. Task Manager keeps track of all the computers processes as well as the CPU usage and physical memory and can be used to monitor and quit unnecessary programs that can slow or freeze your computer. You simply hold all three buttons (in sequence) and you will be redirected to a different screen that gives you options. Look for Task Manager. (note: If you have Windows XP, Task Manager will pop up as a window). There are 6 tabs (Applications, Processes, Services, Performance, Networks and Users). We will only cover the Applications tab.Once you are in Task Manager, click on the applications tab, if it is not already showing. You will see the titles of programs you are using, if any, and its status (running or not responding). If a program is not responding simply highlight it, by clicking on it and clicking on the button at the bottom labeled "End Task".This should force quit the program(s).

restore the machine to some date the machine was working before and then that restore was successful.
Proceed to install again the updates.
However you must RUN the antivirus and malware software for virus or malware.
Normally the HP has a software diagnostic and repair, use it and fix it.

God bless you

Internet explorer quit responding

  1. hold down cntrl shift esc
  2. task manager should open
  3. under task you should see "Internet Explorer'
  4. hit end task
If that does not work, save all of your work, and then hold down the power button to reboot your computer

My laptop Toshiba Qosmio F45- AV413 doesn't turn on. When I press the power button looks that will turn on, but shut down right after. All the lights looks fine, when I plug the power cable the light turn...

Take the battery out & see if it works then, perhaps the battery is so flat it is holding down the PC. It will should go on just the adapter. If this works, then you will have to plug battery back in, & adapter and leave alone for at least 8 hours. If it still won't work, you may need a new battery.

How do i fix the blue screen at boot with windows 7 on a qosmio f45

You most likely have a driver conflict if you get the "Blue Screen of Death". The screen has information on it to point to the problem area. If you are not a Tech you need someone to decipher the information and recommend a fix. Try booting into Safe-Mode by pressing the F5 key during the boot process. If Windows loads sucessfuly you can go to the Control Panel-System-Hardware-Device Manager and see what device or devices have an issue and load a new driver or updated driver from the device manufacturer. Good Luck! If all else fails and you just loaded Windows 7 you may need to format the drive and start over making certain you have all the latest drivers compatable with Windows 7 for your device's. It is best to go on the Web and collect the drivers in advance of loading 7.

- Open Task Manager (Ctrl-Shift-Esc).
- Open Processes Tab.
- Make the column "CPU Time" shown (somewhere in menu).

You will see, which process eat the performance.

If Task Manager doesn't start, it must be a quite clever virus. Try
