What can be done about a laptop which displays system infected, data cannot be read and continues to loop to a screen saver which my kids put on it. How is this repaired or what do I need to buy to get rid of the virus programs so that I can use the laptop.

This is what sounds like a trojan or for of spyware, probably disguised as a screen saver. If you have no anti virus installed download this programme for free If you have no anti spyware programme download this for free. on the laptop press Ctrl, Alt & delete or right click on task bar to get to the task manager and on the processes tab look for the scrensaver.exe or similair that is running, click on it and press end process. this should allow you to work with windows Install the programmes, then go to system restore tab in my computer>right click>properties>system restore tab and click 'turn off system restore'(this will stop any virus or spyware backups reinstalling). Run both the programmes and remove any spyware or virus. If it still appears you may have to uninstall it safe mode, which is press F8 key on start up and select 'start windows in safe mode' and run the antivirus and spyware programmes again.

I am an issue with my toshiba laptop it was working fine and now it isn't its says system repair or continue to windows it won't let me get onto windows i've done system repair and it says windows cannot...

if nothing else works it's probably best to send it to a repair shop. obviously ur OS is damaged either by virus infection, improper shutdown etc. Reformatting might solve ur problem but this will of course erase all ur data, so remind the technician to back up ur data beforehand if the HDD is still accessible as slave drive.

Possible corrupt operating system. The cause of corrupt operating system is Windows file corrupted or virus infected Windows.

Solution corrupt Windows files:
1. START - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Recovery Options - System Restore (restore to the date when the OS is still normal)
2. START - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Recovery Options - System Image Recovery (restore using a backup system that you created)

Solution files corrupted due to virus infected windows
Update anti-virus and virus scan (if the virus is detected, the primary action = repair, secondary action = quarantine). Then repair the operating system with System Restore or System Recovery Options.
If the operating system infected with virus (virus infected not long ago), the best solution is to use System Restore. Restore to a date when the windows are still normal.

How to erase the virus Cardas.exe?

you can try downloading Malwarebytes on another computer and saving it on a flash drive. after that install it and update it on the computer that is infected. then run a full system scan. That should remove the infection.

My computer seems to be infected by the Backdoor, Tidse virus. I have Norton/Symantec anti-virus. Every time I start up the computer, Symantec tells me that a restart is required. Then I restart & it...

Your best bet is to reimage the machine. Even if you get rid of the virus you also get rid of the file(s) it infected. That means those files are no longer available to run and they typically are critical system files. Viruses will hide and then repopulate if you don't completely format and put a clean image on the system. Because you probably don't want to loose all of your data you will want to back it up. Here is another problem because some of that data could be infected as well. I recommend removing the hard drive and use another computer that has a good anti-virus system, backing up your data to another device. Be sure to check your email files because they can bring a virus into your system. Chasing a virus can be frustrating and ultimately unsuccessful. Bite the bullet and give yourself a clean system.

Just bought a hp mini and now has a virus infection. What do we do??

If its possible to burn disc, back the essential data first.
Dont use flash memory/USB device for this purpose. Virus spreads though them easily.

If the infection is small, u might be able to install some good antivirus software like McAfee or Kaspersky [my suggestion] and do a complete scan.

If the antivirus virus fails, the only way out is to re install the operating system. Backup the data first...

After reinstallation u still need antivirus software.
Donot open any drives further.
Install it from a CD.
then erase all drives except C drive[where u installed ur OS]- full erase by right clicking on the drive icon and selecting format option [dont perform quick erase]
Then do a scan to remove any malicious items...

Read this again b4 u proceed. All the best...
Hope this helped

Windows won't start

Your system is stuck in what is called a reboot loop. This could be caused by a virus infection, a corrupt Windows file, or even a virus. The easiest way to do this if you are unfamiliar is to take it to a local computer shop for a diagnostic. If your system has a restore partition, you could try to restore the system to the original factory condition, however, you will lose all data when performing this operation

uTorrent or file sharing software do put you more at risk of virus infection due to their unrestricted nature. Personally I've come to the opinion that no matter how careful you are about what you download its not worth the risk.

Other sources of infection do of course exist, hijacked web pages and virus infected emails are common vectors. Tracking down the exact source of infection after the event can be difficult.

My computer wont boot up

If your computer was infected then it is still infected unless you have used an anti virus program to remove the infection. After removing the virus you then can install xp. Hope this helps.
