Roper Refrigerator, top freezer leaking water into refrigerator

HI
On my roper, in the fridge there is water leaking in from the ceiling (base of the top freezer). Seems to happen only at night. I currently have bowls on the top shelf to catch the water. I do not have an ice maker. How do I find the freezer plug to see if that is clogged?
My Kenmore leaks water from the ceiling inside the fridge. Any idea what causes this?

Indeed, I have the same problem. I now find water under the two crisper drawers as well as on the top shelf of my refrigerator. I tried turning the whole thing off over night to see if it would thaw itself. After two days the leaks began again.

This is usually caused by a plugged freezer drain. The back wall (or floor) of the freezer may come out to access the drain. Clear out anything visible and run a stiff wire thru it. Test with a cup of water. Hope this helps!

Look aty the back of the freezer and at the bottom there will be ice. The Freezer drain is clogged. Usually Iced up becaust the defrost heater coil is weak or shutting off too soon. Clear out the freezer and heat up all around the bottom of the back plate. Take off the back and disconnect the wires for the ice maker if you have one. Disconnect and shut off the ice maker line. Actually shut it off first.
Using the hair drier heat up the drain and make sure it is clear for several inches down. Take a copper wire about 12 inches and make a small loop to go over the heater wire and then the rest goes straight down the drain. Now when the heater coi is on a small amount of heat will go down the wire and keep ice from the drain.
Now just reassemble the ice maker and back putting all wires whaer they go.

Thanks Don ! instructions were just the ticket ! I liked the idea of putting the piece of copper down the drain pipe .

Then get a turkey baster and fill it with hot water. Insert it in the drain in the bottom and squeeze it cleaning the drain. Several applications will solve the problem, and do not forget the freezer side as well.
Good Luck,

Hi I reckon you gave either an ice block in the defrost drain system or a blockage caused by loose food bits. You can clear the ice block if you keep the fridge off for 24 hours leaving both doors open. If you have a small table fan to circulate warm room air you could speed up the process.

The second type of block with food bits may need you to open the internal rear panel of the fridge and push through a stiff wire to clear the blockage.
