I have an Insignia tv with an attached DVD player. The DVD does not load and keeps rejecting. I've tried loading a DVD cleaner but that does not load either. My tv is only about 2 yrs old.

SOURCE: insignia DVD player NOT WORKING

Hey jgconstable,

Before seeking repair assistance, there are a couple of options that you may wish to try out at home.

First, you may want to try cleaning any affected discs if you are only encountering this problem with a select few titles. Any kind of contaminant (dirt or lint) can often cause optical devices to not recognize a media title that is inserted. I would suggest checking each disc that is affected for any signs of scratches, and try cleaning them with a soft, lint-free (typically microfiber) cloth. Remember to use gentle, outward strokes from the center of the disc towards the outer edge.

Second, you may want to try cleaning the lens of the player itself. Many retailers (including your local Best Buy™ store) often sell commercial cleaning kits that are designed to be inserted directly into the player, in place of a normal CD or DVD.

If cleaning doesn't resolve the problem, you may wish to attempt resetting the player. Many DVD players will have either a physical reset button located someplace on the exterior casing, or be capable of a "soft reset." A soft reset is typically done by pressing and holding the power button for five to ten seconds, but please keep in mind that your owner's manual would have the most detailed information on how to reset the player to the original factory settings.

Should the player continue you malfunction, remember that you can always bring your DVD player into your local Best Buy™ store for service and repairs.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

SOURCE: insignia portable player NS-8PDVDA not working

Here's how I've solved same symptoms with our NS -PDVD8a:

1. Cleaned laser optics with isopropyl alcohol/swap --make sure you let the optics dry/IPA evaporate from the optics before running
2. Using compressed air can--cleaned laser track
3. Gently move laser along track several times - it seems laser is having most trouble at start of disc -- not sure it needs lubrication, but running it along track several times seems to have righted it

Had to do this a couple of times, but it's working now -- expect I will need to do this again -- no idea how long fix will work.

Good luck!

SOURCE: previously recorded disks and new disks all-dirty disk rejection

you may need to go thru the cleaning process a couple of times since it has never been cleaned ,but I'm glad there is a for sure improvement
that was my thinking about the laser lens cleaning disc , I have helped alot of people with thier player as well because they to did not know of the disc either. they do not advertise it enough for people to always hear about it or include the cleaning process and recommendations(maybe because they want you to buy a new one is about right!)
sometimes they get so dirty the laser lens has to be cleaned manually ( with a q - tip and the disc solution )
if you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask

SOURCE: ripspeed in car dvd player

I had a similar problem with mine I have just had a technical fault with mine and the only solution i could find was through halfords. If its under warranty they send it off to their supplier AEL to solve. If its no longer under warranty like mine, they send it off at an initial £60 cost which could escalate if the problem is larger.

DVD player not working!

The player uses a laser to check for a DVD. If the laser fails, the player acts like there is no DVD loaded and opens the disc tray so a DVD can be inserted. Sounds like a bad laser.

Insignia tv/dvd player will load the dvd but eject it after rocking back and forth. Something is stopping it from loading... help

Try a DVD cleaning kit and follow instructions, if this fails! the problem is the laser pickup assembly, only option replace the assembly or purchase a new player, "far cheaper"

Toshoba tv/dvd combo. won't play many dvd's. makes clicking sound as it tries to load movie?

Dear Lesley!
It looks, like your DVD lens might get contaminated with dust and/or dirt, which is being picked up off DVDs. Let's try to load music CD, instead or DVD. If it loads well, I will suggest, that your DVD player is at fault and you must give up using it. External basic DVD players are quite inexpensive and easy to connect to your TV. But: if no CD, nor DVD load, the solution might be much simpler: use lens cleaner CD with brushes. good ones might even have a special fluid, which applied to brushes(alcohol based). Just load it into your TV's player and follow audible directions. After couple attempts, your lens should be clean enough to play DVDs. Please, don't try to use any "ear swabs", instead. The lengths is not long enough, plus it may damage load mechanism or get stuck inside. I've seen such a cases lately.
Good luck,
Thank you,
Alex.

When I put certain dvds into the player, it goes into "loading" mode and then prints "NO DISC" on the TV screen. Any idea what the problem is?

There could be dust on the lens so try using a DVD Lens cleaner and give that a few trys, if that fails , then the lens has developed a fault.

Disk won't play...it just keeps 'loading'

It sounds to me as if the laser isn't reading the disc. You can try a commercial lens cleaner, or you can do a better job by doing it by hand, but it means taking the machine apart. If you think you'd like to try to do this, get back to me and I'll give you all the instructions. It isn't too hard to do, and will do a much better job than the commercial lens cleaners. But the lens cleaner is OK if you aren't game. You may have to use it several times though.
