Question about Maytag MEW5530D Electric Single Oven

1 Answer

Electric oven my electric oven is not functioning properly. the Cancel and Clock buttons function properly, however all other buttons on the keypad are not working at all. I read through the owners manual trying all of the trouble shoot ing advice without any results. Nothing works. It seemed to happen all of a sudden. The oven is under warrenty, installed with the purchase of the home in 2005. Any further guidance would be great!! My home number is 1-915-490-1204. Thank you for your time.

Was there a lightening storm (that may have zapped the micro-controller chip) prior to the problem?

I have to turm the oven off at the braker box. it comes on by itself. when I turn it on to cook it will not stay on gos off and beeps. Shows C7 or F7

This is usually a keypad stuck key error, usually caused by a bad keypad or sometimes caused by your control board.
F7 usually means a stuck key on the keypad. I've also seen it caused by a greasey buildup on the keypad connector into the control board. Try pressing each button on the keypad followed by cancel. See if the buttons are registering with the control - should get a beep or some function (execpt up/down buttons need a cook or time function enabled first). If one of the buttons seems inoperative it may be stuck, in which case you probably need a new keypad.
Best Regards, Diana

My oven won't start. no display, only beeps on certain functions

Hi, the actual circuit that is open is the cancel key connection. Here is a check list that will help. I would consider replacing the ERC if the control is integrated.

1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board).
2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).

Please rate and god bless:)

Double electric oven

This is actually a feature of the oven. Holding the cancel/secure button down for three seconds puts the oven in a locked out mode so that it can't accidentally be turned on. The displays say 'OFF'. Holding the cancel/secure button again for three seconds enables it for use.
