E41 ERROR

E41 Control board thinks the door switch is open.

In the J2 plug on the control, measure voltage from the black wire to ground with power on.

0 volts. Check the door strike. If good, replace the door switch assembly.

120 volts. Replace the control board.

PAU error code comes on when iI test it it shows e41 door lock

Hello, welcome to FixYa

Based on the info you provided, specifically the E41 error, It sounds like the unit is detecting an unlocked door, loose wire, or the control itself is bad. (E41= Shorted or open. Defective door lock assembly.Around 1500Ohms. Defective control board.)

The PAU simply indicates the control thinks it has been paused...that may be just a side affect of the door lock assembly.

Here's how to check...

**Unplug the unit from the wall first...safety first**

Remove the door lock assembly and measure the resistance of the PTC. Should get a reading of around 1500ohms.

Attached here is a great tutorial for accessing the assembly for testing and replacing.

Let me know if you need further assistance going forward or if anything is not clear.

The washing machine fills with water but then the door light comes on and the drum wont turn

Hello

The door light comes on when the washer control senses that the door is still open, please check the door lock assembly and the switch. You can also test it with a voltmeter and check how many volts its getting, you can also take a hair dryer and blow air on the door lock assembly so that if there is any dust this will blow it off. If the door lock/switch tests fine then check the wire going to the control. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Your problem could be the control board or control panel. Most of the cases it is the control panel. I replaced the entire panel and it works like new. If you can determine what the problem is, you can save yourself a lot of money by doing the repair yourself. Either one is quite easy to replace. Good luck.

Door lock

The MAH5500B Neptune does not have the door latch wax motor so you won't have the R11 resistor burnt...

With that said.. Maytag made the door latch assemby one complete assembly meaning that you cannot replace the micro switches, solenoid, etc. On the older door latch assemblies Maytag broke it down to all of the little parts, ie. 12002535 wax motor, etc. I imagine that this was to reduce the part numbers folks would have to store in inventory...

You stated that the door is not locking? Did you pull on it to verify this? or could the door lock indication be not working?
There are 2 microswitches in the door latch assembly, one lights the door locked light and the second actually tells the control board that the door is locked. It is possible that the door is locked but the door locked light does not come on...

It more than likely could be three things.. The door latch assembly, wiring or control board. I would take Neptune apart so you can have access to the door latch asembly See www.neptunewaxmotor.com for step by step photos. Put a volt meter on the solenoid wires and see if you get 120VAC when the door should be locked. If so, then the solenoid coil is probably opened up and you will have the replace the door latch assembly. If 120 VAC is absent then I would check the wiring from the door latch assembly to the control board with an ohmmeter (unplug Neptune to be safe while using ohmmeter) If wire continuity is good then I would suspect the machine control board.

Door lock

Run a diagnostic on the door lock system; To place the unit in "service mode", close the door completely then press and hold both the "Delicates" and "Heavy Soils" keys for three seconds. Motor speed will be displayed. Press "rinse" to access the main board output function. Then press "max extract"... this is the test for the door lock. Did it lock? To exit, press "max extract" again and then both "Delicates" and "Heavy Soils" for three seconds. VOLTAGE TESTS AHEAD!!! IF YOU AREN'T SURE YOU CAN DO IT, THEN DON'T! CALL A PROFESSIONAL! If the door did not lock, you'll need a voltmeter and an hour or so. Open the door, remove the screws holding the door hinges, then remove the 2 screws (and shims) opposite the door hinges and close the door (do not take it off). Then grasp the front panel at the top near where it meets the top panel and pull toward you quickly. Lean it forward and remove it from the 2 clips at the bottom. Just below the top panel, now exposed, are the top panel retainers... use a 5/16" to remove the one screw on both sides and remove the retainer clips. Now lift the top panel up just like the hood of a car. You can now see the door latch assy. Remove the 2 wires on the solenoid and insert your meter probes into each one of them (color doesn't matter). Set your meter to read AC Voltage, then re-enter "Service Mode" and follow the steps to door lock test. When you hit the "Max Extract" key, 120 volts should be sent to the meter. If you get 120 volts, your latch assy. has failed and should be replaced. If you don't get 120 volts, your control board output has failed and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps.

If the "door lock" light is not on, the motor won't engage. These are notorious for door lock failures. However, if the door IS locking, and you have no agitate OR spin, you'll need to go a bit deeper. ---> With the front panel removed, turn the timer to Regular wash and allow it to fill. Then, with a volt stick (google it), probe the wire harness that goes to the motor. If the tip glows, you know you are getting power to the motor, but it is not responding to it. A new motor and motor controller is the fix for that. If the probe does NOT glow, the controller isn't sending power to the motor. (BTW, the motor controller is the 6" X 8" computer box in the back right corner)Why? Using your volt stick, probe the wire harness that comes FROM the timer into the controller. If it glows, you know the timer is TRYING to power up the controller but the controller isn't responding... back to changing out the motor and controller. If the probe does NOT glow, you know the timer is not sending power to the controller. In that case, it would be a defective timer. Replace it and all is well in the world. I'll warn you that a timer is much more difficult to replace than you'd think... AND I've only seen 1 failed timer since working on these. Most likely a failed door lock.
