Power Supply

The main power supply is the first thing to check. Also remove the toe kick and the cover on the power box and check the connections. Also check for 120 volt at the power box.

Hi - Limit Fuse

This will fail if your dishwasher overheats and occassionally with power surges. This is easy to check, inexpensive and a quick fix. Just check the terminals for continuity ( remember always remove one wire) if you have none replace the hi limit fuse.

Door Switch

This is the second place to look. Again an inexpensive easy fix. The following video will walk you thru checking the door switch. The power comes into the main power box and usually runs to the door switch next before entering the main control module.

Main Control Module / Timer

The main control module or mechanical timer controls all the functions of the dishwasher. To check this you will need to find the 2 leads that supply the power to the control. They will be marked on the wiring diagram. They usually come from the hi - limit fuse or the door switch. When the door is latched you should have 120 volts entering the main control. If you do not the problem is not the control. If you do have power entering the control but none of the functions work properly or it does not respond at all you will need to replace the control module, this is easy to replace but not very inexpensive to purchase. Consider the age and overall condition when purchasing this part.

Motor

The motor may have failed. If the control illuminates on electronic versions the problem may be the motor. To check the motor refer to the tech sheet located behind the console cover on most models, this will sometimes have the ohm reading of the motor. Also check each lead to the metal housing of the motor to check for shorts in the motor. If you do not have the ohm reading specicifications, check for continuity if none replace the motor. Make sure the motor is recieving power.

Float Switch

If the float switch has failed or is stuck the dishwasher control may not respond. The float switch is easy to check and replace. We have video and tutorials that cover several style

My garage door is struggling to open and on occasions the light constantly blinks after opening such as a trip. The remote opener will not open the door even with new batteries. Is this an indication of...

It sounds like the PC board in the overhead control box may have a bad solder joint on the control relay terminals or somewhere on the board.. You should unplug the 120 volt plug from the outlet, remove the cover of the box, take a flashlight and look for any burn marks or bad solder joints, lightly wiggle the relays and larger components to feel if they appear loose, I don't recommend this if you have second thoughts about your ability but make sure you unplug the unit from the outlet. If you see the problem it is fixable by the homeowner and a minimal amount of solder experience. I repeat , this is very important, do not do anything with the unit plugged into the 120 volt outlet.

PAU error code comes on when iI test it it shows e41 door lock

Hello, welcome to FixYa

Based on the info you provided, specifically the E41 error, It sounds like the unit is detecting an unlocked door, loose wire, or the control itself is bad. (E41= Shorted or open. Defective door lock assembly.Around 1500Ohms. Defective control board.)

The PAU simply indicates the control thinks it has been paused...that may be just a side affect of the door lock assembly.

Here's how to check...

**Unplug the unit from the wall first...safety first**

Remove the door lock assembly and measure the resistance of the PTC. Should get a reading of around 1500ohms.

Attached here is a great tutorial for accessing the assembly for testing and replacing.

Let me know if you need further assistance going forward or if anything is not clear.

Thank's again for visiting FixYa today. Good luck.

I have a 1991 chevy astro van when my van sits without starting up more than 12 hours the battery is dead. I bought a new battery and the same problem remains. I took the van to a repair shop and they...

The way to find the short is as follows. Using a 12 volt test light start with the hot wire(s) going to where you think the problem is located.( like the windows or door locks as you stated) Continue this process with all of the circuits until the bulb in the test light "lights up" when you insert the probe into the circuit wire. Bear in mind this type of problem can be very time consuming which is why vehicle electrical repair shops charge so much.

All the lights, display, etc. work on the oven but no heat

First and foremost check the breaker box. Ovens use 240 volts which is a double breaker in the box. Just to be safe I would click both breakers off and then back on together. If this doesnt work turn off the power and have someone help you pull the oven out and check your plug or connection. You may be dealing with a broken wire in the junction box due to the power outage. If you have a volt meter turn the power on SAFETLY and test if your getting 240 volts. If the connections are good (including the one from the juction box to the stove itself) and you are getting proper votage, unfortunatley you are going to have to get a new control. What happens is with only 120 volts going to the oven everything runs but your elements (they utilize the 240 volts to heat). You can tell time or use the timer but without your full 240 your turkey aint gonna cook. There is 120 volts coming coming from each of those breakers you checked in the garage. Bottom line is the chances of both elements going out at the same time are slim to none and I feel you are probably dealing with a broken wire.

TEST B: BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT OF RANGE - DTC B1676
1. Check if vehicle has been jump started within past 2 weeks. If vehicle has been jump started, ABS is
okay. If vehicle has not been jump started, go to next step.
2. Using DVOM, measure voltage between positive and negative battery terminals. If voltage is 9-19 volts,
go to next step. If voltage is not 9-19 volts, diagnose charging system. See appropriate GENERATORS
article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS.
3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 25-pin ABS control module. Install EEC-IV 60-pin Breakout Box (014-
00322). Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between breakout box terminal No. 20 and ground. If voltage
is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Light Blue/Pink wire between
ABS control module and instrument panel fuse panel.
4. Turn ignition off. Measure voltage between breakout box terminal No. 25 and ground. If voltage is
greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Red wire between ABS
control module and power distribution box/engine compartment fuse box.
5. Measure voltage between breakout box terminal No. 9 and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go
to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Yellow/Light Green wire between ABS control module
and power distribution box/engine compartment fuse box.
6. Measure resistance between breakout box terminal No. 8 and ground. Also, measure resistance between
breakout box terminal No. 24 and ground. If both resistance measurements are less than 5 ohms, replace
ABS control module and repeat self-test. If either resistance measurement is greater than 5 ohms, repair
suspect Black wire between ABS control module and ground distribution.
NOTE: DTC B1676 will set if vehicle has been jump started.
