yes I have the same problem,

it is still under warranty(have only had it 6 months) and I have had the service techs out to my house 4 times to diagnose and it is still making the sound. First they said it was the ball bearings..replaced them but that wasn't it. Then they said it was the drum? ordered the part which took a least a week since it is from CA.

Now it is a two hour service call and taking my dryer completely apart to tell me that I had dog hair accumulated causing the thumping sound.

I have had dogs my whole life and never had a problem with hair accumulating in a dryer. It SHOULD go into the lint catcher. Now I feel like a pig...but I think...well at least the dryer is working again. Meanwhile 3 1/2 weeks without my dryer, I feel lucky to have had an old basic Whirlpool in the basement. Never have had any problems with it and so I continued to lug my wet laundry to the basement to dry it.

So they told me it was fixed. I used it for barely a week and the thumping is back. I really got talked into this washer and dryer and it is supposedly the best there is and lasts forever????

I am disgusted. Besides the fact that obviously if others have a thumping sound, mine is #1 not unique and #2 not caused by DOG HAIR.

I am contacting Fisher Paykel tomorrow and telling them that they better get this problem fixed or they can take this dryer back!

OK. I hope this helps someone that runs across it later. I had that. It sounds creepy, like someone pounding to get out. I found that same lint catch issue where it wasn't collecting. Here's the scoop. There is a screw behind the lint bowl thing that lets you remove that piece. (forgive me if it's not exact, it's been a few months since I fixed it) OK, next, There is a ring around the side that needs to be turned a notch to pull it off the drum. It's the white thing that you see when you look into the drum. What happened is the tiny clips that hold onto the lint wheel broke. the remaining ones are clipping where they should catch and hold, thus thumping as the drum turns. To fix this, I simply took high temp epoxy from the hardware store and glued the two together. (youll see it if you take it apart) Yes, if the lint thing goes bad, ill have to buy both parts though it cost me a failed service call and about an hour with less than $20 for the fix. Well worth the possible issue down the line.

From here, I should note that the lint will need a little help. Clean out as much as you can (make sure its unplugged, 220v is no joke) The vent fan is all part of the same belt/motor as far as I can tell. I took a vac and shoved it in the back and slowly turned the fan thing by hand. It sucks, it's not going to get it all, but if you get enough, it should work to blow the rest out.

If this doesn't make sense or you'd like pics, email me. s kleman at g mail. with no spaces in the email...

If the dryer is not sitting in all four corners and rocking back and forth, try adjusting the leveling feet to make it stable. Another cause of noise are worn idler wheels that have either buildup, or wear that makes a thumping noise. They would need to be replaced.

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

Fisher and paykel dryer works but very noisy

If the noise is like a shaking of rattling , like coins being shaked , then it is an object trapped inside the drum.

If instead the noise is a loud grinding , that may get louder on high speed, then it is usually a bad drum bearing.

If dryer is not cooling, check that the noise is not coming from the ventilation fan.

Rollers and belt tensioner can also make noise.
