The blinking FEE message means the aperture ring is not set to minimum aperture (highest number). Turn the aperture ring to the highest number, and then find the aperture lock -- either a little slider or a button you press and turn. That will keep it from accidentally changing again.

If you have the lens set to the lowest number, you should be seeing a FEE error on the display. The lens needs to be set to the highest number, typically 16 or 22.

Problems taking pictures on nikon d1x

There may be something wrong with the camera. Make sure it is set to Single Exposure setting and not Multiples. There should be a control on the top left to change this. Look for an "S". this is what you want. If that doesnt help, you may need to get it repaired.

NIKON D1X won't take pictures

arceye 10 is right. Once the lens is attached to the camera body, make sure that the aperture ring is turned all the way up to the largest number (usually 22). To do this, hold the camera with the lens pointing away from you, and turn the aperture ring clockwise.

I would check to see if you have set the exposure compensation and/or flash compensation to a high setting and forgot to put it back to zero.
Good luck.
