Suggest you clean the lint trap AND THE exhaust hose. If either is blocked up, the dryer could overheat - and cause a fire if it gets too hot.

This dryer is fairly easy to repair.


The thermal fuse is probably blown. Look for air restrictions and a bad blower wheel to be the culprit. When that blower wheel starts slipping it causes the dryer to overheat.

Usually when an electric dryer overheats it's because of a defective cycling thermostat or a clogged vent system. Clean any lint from the internal and external ductwork, and/or replace the cycling thermostat.

usually it's the motor,there's an overload on the motor that shuts it down when it's to hot,when was the last time you cleaned out the dryer?there could be lint covering the motor,this will overheat it,clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into,blow out the vent line and vac the inside of the dryer where the motor is,next time send the model number and how old the dryer is,clean out the dryer and don't do one load after another and you can still get some life out of the dryer,if the dryer is old use it until it dies

With a name like Sexydiva69 I'd overheat too! Sounds like your exhaust hose might be clogged. Take it off and make sure you don't have excessive lint buildup anywhere in exhaust system.

Go to Maytags website and under support you can usually get an online version of the manual if you know the model # of it.

if its electric burning smell,its either a overheating motor,capacitor or both or burnt connections,sounds like a motor problem,it will be very hot to touch if its failing,check capacitor though as it could be causing motor to overheat,rating of cap is on side

This happens when the dryer gets too hot and a thermal breaker (or thermal fuse) kicks in. The most likely problem is that the exhaust vent for the dryer is plugged up with lint either within the dryer itself or in the part that is in your wall and exits someplace outside (could be as far as the roof). When the hot air can't escape the dryer overheats and shuts itself off to prevent a fire.

yes inside the front panel ther is a white plastic thermal fuse with two wires going to it, if the dryer overheats this fuse will open, disabling the heater, check for open with meter.
