Question about Microsoft Zune JS8-00001 Digital Media Player

My Zune 30GB is frozen on the start up thing!

So my Zune 30GB is stuck on that startup page with the picture and the ZUNE words under it && the loading bar is all the way across but nothing's happening!?
I tried rebooting it, but that wouldn't work! None of the buttons seem to work at all!
HELP?
I have the same problem. I went to charge my 30 GB Zune last night. This morning I awoke to find my zune being stuck on the screen that has the Zune Logo with the gray progress bar on the bottom. This is very frustrating!

    I have the same problem. I wanted to play checkers and i turned it on and that thing came up but now its stuck and nuthing works. I let the battery run down and charged it up but it only did the same thing over again.

    stuck on the start up screen wont do anything I let the battery die then plugged it in and it went back to the same screen, any help......

I hope this helps but after reading all the post. .I was faced with the same problem. i opened my zune 30gig up and just pulled the white clip that holds the battery ribbon for 10sec. Plugged it back up and my screen is shown please wait ....

Disassemble and disconnect the battery for about 10 seconds. All Zune 30's apparently siezed this AM. MS is working on their solution, not sure when it will come out. The battery disconnect is at least a temp fix. Mine works fine after doing it.

How to restore your Zune device software:------------
When you restore your Zune device software, the startup partition and the data partition are removed and rebuilt. In addition to removing the Zune device software, this process also erases all audio, videos, podcasts, and pictures that are stored on the Zune device.
Warning To restore the Zune device software, you must have a Windows-based computer that has an Internet connection. That computer must have the Zune software installed. And you must be able to connect the Zune device to a USB port on that computer by using a Zune Sync Cable. Do not perform the following steps if you do not have any one or more of these things immediately available.

After you start to restore the Zune device software, you cannot again use the device until you complete all the steps. You will not receive any confirmation or warning on the Zune device after you start the following procedure.

To restore the Zune device software, follow these steps:
1. Set the Hold Switch to unlocked.
2. Press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press and hold the top of the Zune Pad. When the Zune device begins to power up, release the buttons.
3. Immediately after you release the buttons in step 2, press and hold the following special button combination, depending on your Zune model:• If you have the 4GB Zune, the 8GB Zune, or the 80GB Zune, immediately press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press both the left side of the Zune Pad and the Play/Pause button. Continue to hold these buttons until your Zune device restarts and "Please wait" appears on the screen.
• If you have the 30GB Zune, immediately press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press both the left side of the Zune pad and the center of the Zune pad. Continue to hold these buttons until your Zune device restarts and "Please wait" appears on the screen.

Note "Clearing contents. Please wait" appears, followed by “Connect Zune to your PC."

4. After “Connect Zune to your PC” appears, connect the Zune device to the computer that has the current Zune software installed, and then update the device to the current Zune device software.

Hi as of last night every zune30gb in the world went frozen go to zune web page and go to support on the zune page and put in a repair request i also have a zune30gb so i hope they will be fixing the problem soon .

i think all you have to do is let it sit like that for a while and if not try holding the middle button (if you have on on that) that worked for me before

Zune not working


If these are the 30GB zunes there is a problem with these known as the Zune 30's y2k9 bug. If you call they will fix the problem for you for free. Call 1-877-438-9863 for zune technical support.
